No Vin Yet

Hi all,

Curious if this is normal.

Ordered a plain EX in August. Picked up in KFOS September. First ETA was 11/27. It has bounced around a few times in December. Now it’s 5 weeks out. Dealer doesn’t have a vin yet. Is that odd?

No, that is not odd. Vin can show up on failcat 6 weeks before delivery. Some have had their vins not show up at all on failcat. Doesn’t mean the order doesn’t exist, just that failcat has its own quirks. My dealer didn’t send me the VIN until 3 weeks before estimated delivery.

Thanks. Dealer doesn’t have it yet either. I’d imagine any day now.

Seems to vary a lot. My vin showed up in failcat Oct 14th last month and arrived at dealer Oct 28th.

I may be confused about the KFOS and VIN process…

I ordered 10/01. Dealer (Muncie KIA) confirmed it was picked up around 10/15… but they didn’t have an ETA from Kia at that time.

Almost a month has now passed since the order was picked up… should I have an ETA by now?

Is the ETA only possible to provide after a VIN has been created?
