• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We purchased our new 2020 Kia Telluride at the end of January in New Jersey. We noticed numerous sparkles all over the entire windshield depending on the direction of the sun hitting it. They are not uniform. In some areas there are more than in other spots. If there is no sun the windshield is clear. These specs and sparkles besides being annoying may impair the vision. We have the acoustic windshield. Has anyone else had this experience?

More than likely micro chips from sand, tiny rocks, etc.. hitting it.

I have the same issue

I have the same issue
We notified the dealer and also Kia main office in Calif. we have a complaint number. Dealer claims they have to confirm the issue visually. This is difficult since it only occurs when there is bright sun and at the correct angle. A service tech can’t continually look at windshield. Tricky problem! Have you done anything?

I have been traveling and have not done anything yet. My build date is Oct 7th. I'm wondering what yours is? Maybe a bad batch?

Where do you find build date?

Open driver side door and check side post, close to the tire pressure information.

My batch date is Dec. 19 2019

Is it Gold Flake that let's the dealers mark it up?

I just bought my Kia Telluride the end of September.. it is now December 3rd and about two or three weeks ago I noticed these strange like sparkles when the sun was shining on the windshield. I thought well I have an appt to take it to get detailed and the person detailing my car will wash the windshield and they would somehow go away. I picked it up and it looked perfect UNTIL I started Driving where the sun was shining right into the front windshield! LOTS and LOTS of sparkles! This could be VERY dangerous! I called the dealer where I
Purchased it and they are going to ride with me
When the sun is shining bright!! They couldn’t believe what I was explaining. They had not heard of this happening. I am going to be adamant about them replacing my windshield..
I paid way over the MSRP price so I do deserve a windshield I can see out of without sparkles!!

We have a 2021 SXP AWD - three months + old - 3600 miles. My wife has noticed these sparkles as well - only in morning when the sun is shining directly on the glass. No sun shining on it, windshield is clear. From the number of them, its hard to believe its small sand scars. Anyone get a resolution to this or is this just the normal characteristic of this windshield glass. Thanks.

Do you have the SXP trim? Could be a the PVB layer between the glass or glass coating used to work with your heads up display. Also if you wear polarized sunglasses with a HUD windshield, you will be able to see the polarization of the glass more obviously.

Yes, its SXP trim with HUD - we live in NM so we usually wear sunglasses when we are driving so that may well be the explanation - next trip I will try taking off the glasses and see how that appears.

I have the glitter all over my windshield after the first 2 weeks of driving.
I’ll probably take the car to a windshield place first to get there opinion.
I feel it’s definitely something wrong with the windshield.
I was not in a sand storm.

We have a 2020 S with the same thing. I thought it was sap from a tree and have tried every cleaner and method imaginable with no luck. It does look clear at almost every angle except a certain side look with the sun. Interesting more people have it.

So I went to my local windshield shop Safeliite.
They use a cleaner and a razor blade to try to scrap it off/clean.
No change. He never saw this before. Said probably Kia wouldn’t warranty this since I didn’t see it before I drove the car. Sort of hard to do.
I should have pointed it out to Kia when I had my first oil
change but didn’t.
I’ll most likely take it in to show them to go on record.

I see the same issue with my 2020 SX. Depends on sun reflection. Looks like fine glitter inside of the glass, I have cleaned both sides to investigate. I will pay more attention. Especially noticeable when the vehicle/windshield is clean. I thought it was just me! Now I'm feeling better about my extended warranty purchase.

So an update.
Took the car to Kia. The service manager came outside to look after I parked the car facing the sun.
He tried to clean it off inside and outside. He tried to feel it with a razor blade. He than said he never say anything like this.
He said he had to notify Kia and than he would order a new windshield. They will probably get back tome in 2 days.
I said to myself, “ it can’t be this easy”.
That was 4 days ago so I called today.
The service manager said he hasn’t heard from Kia yet but should hear by Monday and they will call me.
On my work report, he attached the windshield replacement policy for cracks where Kia is replacing windshields as a service to customers.
When I get their answer either way, I’ll let everyone know and attached the replacement notice even though this is not for speckles but cracks, and is not a recall.
