Order to delivery time

so excited I decided to give a look at failcat just now and my Telly is showing in there as of today! I was given an ETA of Jan 1. With all the chatter about some dealers selling out from under people I'm now anxious & hope that doesn't happen. I'm about 1/2 hr from dealer so not like I can just drive by. I'm so excited.

Stephen said his information has my vehicle on the dealer lot but he also said that that doesn't necessarily mean that the vehicle is on the lot. He said it's most likely in transit still. My salesperson called last night and said the same thing happened before so it should be any day now. I've been hearing "any day now" for almost a month now. I have multiple family members checking the lot on their way to and from work. What bothers me about this whole thing is that the sales manager hasn't reached out to me at all and I can't get anything official from the dealership to make me feel better about them not selling it out from under me. the only thing I have is a photo of the order sheet and my deposit.

Fingers crossed it's right around the corner....maybe check with @StephenCantrelle in the other thread to see if there's a difference between "Dealer stock" and "sold". He sees both of those statuses, hopefully the fact that it's not marked "sold" yet is significant.

Also, the dealer could've been saying "any day now" while it was in transit...hard to say now when it changed to "dealer stock", maybe it was just in the last day or two.

Well, if things don't work out with the Telluride that I ordered, Mike Kelly Kia is definitely my backup plan. too bad I'll have to wait another 5-6 months tho.

My order got accepted on August 18th through Kia Berwyn (Chicagoland). Just got my ETA today of March 3rd…so that’s a 6-7 month wait for what I think is a high volume dealer. Definitely a lot longer than I expected to wait but I know supply chain issues have only gotten worse since I ordered. Anyone that ordered in August or later and is getting delivery in less than 4 months should consider themselves lucky.

Was that accepted into kia or accepted into the dealer system? I ordered august 14th from a similar size dealer and am being told may… luckily I also ordered from a high volume dealer (i25) who I think will get me my order way faster.

I got a phone call from a different dealer saying they had what I was looking for, someone canceled there order and I had first Dibbs. I cut the deal on the phone, and pick it up in a couple of hours. I then called my dealer who I ordered from 2 weeks ago and was happy for me. I asked them for my deposit back and they responded that I would get a phone call from the general manager today to talk about it. I'm hesitant they will be open to send me my deposit back to me but I will push the issue if that occurs.

What ever happened relating to your deposit? Did you get it back? Did you get the runaround form the GM?

I heard a new status from my dealer. My order has been entered in the ‘manufacturers queue‘. I put $1000 down in the middle of September. What is that status? He also told me Kia bought a chip manufacturer, but I read that business article- that won’t help with the chip shortage for another year or more. So don’t buy into that just yet. Parts held up at the shipping ports in CA is also a good reason, and the plant in GA lost around 25% of its employees due to Covid. It’s a perfect storm!

Got a call a few days ago saying no update. When I probed about orders before mine that received ETAs they said some orders from May 2021 have received ETAs. So probably looking at March, best case... @emmcclelland have you received any new updates?

Yes! $1000 deposit up front to order. They did refund it after selling my car to someone else, at least.

Ordered on May 29th was told it would be here in November. They don't know when I will get it. They originally told me it would be 4-6 months but now they said it could be 8 months.

Just got an update. ETA for my telluride is 12/31.

order time frame:

September 8th place order with i25 kia Carlos Rubio

October 20th order picked up - Atleast I assume because that when I got my first eta of January 2, 2022.

November 30th VIN on failcat. Eta updated to January 1st.

December 11th got updated delivery from Stephen Cantrelle for December 28.

December 18th. Dealership sent me VIN and I confirmed my vin hit failcat on 11-30

December 20th Stephen Chantelle checked again and still showed in transit December 28th eta.

December 21- get text from my dealer that the vehicle had arrived.

Picked up December 22. At my request, no dealership decals or anything put on vehicle. Car still had plastic wrap throughout interior keep it protected. Vehicle had 9 miles on it and looked great.
