Interior fog

We took our 2022 Telluride for our first road trip last week, and I'm surprised how difficult it is to keep fog off the windows. (around -7C or 14F outside) I had the HVAC set to Auto, and the Auto Defogging System (ADS) turned on. The middle row windows were constantly foggy, and the edges of the front windshield were also foggy. I turned the fan up and it helped front windshield, and then turned the A/C on and the middle windows eventually defogged.

I've never had this issue in my other cars with automatic climate control... even more surprising is the Telluride has a specific Auto Defogging System that doesn't appear to work! Maybe there's a faulty humidity sensor or something in my car...

Is anyone else having this issue?

Just make sure it's set on fresh air--not recirculate! Eyeball the button fresh/recicrculate and set it to fresh. Thanks.

AC should always be on when defogging, to dehumidify the air. And yes, as per @beato1, do not recirculate if it's humid.

Yep, checked that and it was set to fresh.

I would assume though, that when in Auto mode and with ADS turned on, it would automatically turn on the AC, no? I had to manually turn it on on fiddle with the fan speed which kind of defeats the whole purpose of auto climate and auto defog!

The solution is to pit it on the front window defogger mode manually. Will also clear up the back. After the fog clear you can go back to auto.

-13F in MN yesterday and had to do this. Normally auto is fine without fogging, but at the extremes, it sometimes needs you to manually intervene. The system clears fog fast when manually set!
