• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I'm usually not a fan of buying extended warranties, and there's almost no chance I'd keep the car longer than 5 yrs (I get bored), but Kia did sneak a 3-36000 exemption to the basic 5-60000 warranty for "Audio/Entertainment" systems. I'm guessing a failure of the head unit that drives all the entertainment and information screens would be pretty expensive and WOULD fall under the 3-36000 coverage. Any thoughts on what Audio/Entertainment system actually means for warranty coverage?

For less then 5 years, no. It would be a complete waste of money for 5 years. If the head unit goes out in year 4 or 5, then that is telling you to trade in. I would also point out that owning a kia for less then 8 years is also going to cost you. At 5 years, you are going to lose about 10 grand in depreciation compared to other brands.

So you are losing regardless. The question is having the warranty worth not worrying about it.

I was offered to extend the original bumper to bumper warranty from 5 to 10yrs for $1600. I keep cars a long time, and plan to give the Telluride to my son as his first car (he is 7). I took the extended warranty option. For $1600, felt like a good insurance plan.

I opted for the warranty for piece of mind especially with it being a first year model release. They are going to have issues and I accepted that when I purchase. I was able to get the extended warranty for $1500 but keep in mind that this is not a KIA extended warranty and is provided by a third party so ensure you do your homework to understand the warranty in detail.

What is the name of the warranty company. I just bought the Telluride but the extended warranty was 2373. I opted not to get it at the time.
