^^^this...when we were buying we were shown it and i said no...redundant features or features that could potentially not work and cause an accident...more electronics = more potential problems...and this car is already loaded with electronics...they also recommend replacing a windshield with a kia windshield so the hud works correctly...if you live somewhere that gets snow/sand/salt that is an issue...we haven't even had our car a year and my wife already has a crack in the windshield so we will be replacing that once the spring time gets here...polorized sunglasses, excessive light, wet roads and not sitting up straight also affect itOften, less is more.
Perhaps there may be other reasons for the upgrade, other than the HUD? Are you a tall person? The extended length of the Prestige seats may entice you. If you haven’t seen enough videos of the Dune Brown and Butterscotch interiors, maybe watch all the videos you can find? Color choice is one of the toughest decisions to make with the Telly. But at the end of the day, you want to love your car. Personally, I could do without the HUD. But as another mentioned, it’s a technology that’s here to stay. And resale value wise, it’ll increase the value of your car if you try to sell it in ten years.I understand it's considered as a safety feature as you won't be taking your eyes off from the road. However, you can also have your speed displayed on your instrument cluster. I don't know about the speed limit though...
I kind of want to go all the way and get the NXP (and have no regret later on), but I personally don't see any use of premium package (heated/ventilated 2nd row) as we'll be installing a booster seat and a car seat to our 2nd row for the next 10 years. Dune Brown looks real nice, but I don't know how this is compared to Butter Scotch.... so If I go with Prestige, it will be solely for HUD! The questions is... is it really worth extra $2K?
Any thought or recommendation?.
This is at least the second time I’ve seen you imply there is any difference in the length or size of the seats on the Prestige package. There isn’t… only difference is the material and stitch pattern. Are you a tall person? The extended length of the Prestige seats may entice you.
that's the point...people are sharing is their opinions/preferences about the hud...hence the title of the threadThis is all banter and justification for everyone’s personal opinions.
I'm thinking he's talking about the extra leg support that is adjustable. I'm not sure it's available on the lx and s model. It's one of the reasons why I chose a higher trim. Disagree, the title is a question and a question is answered with advice. Everything you write is your opinion. Now if the HUD wasn’t as functional as other mfgs, then that’s advice but to say cranking down your windows does the same thing as hitting a button, well, no one is going to change your mind.that's the point...people are sharing is their opinions/preferences about the hud...hence the title of the thread
My point is the SX seats are the same length and overall size no matter what. The thigh extender is on all SX models. They were implying that the Prestige package gets you some added size the regular SX doesn’t have, which is untrue.I'm thinking he's talking about the extra leg support that is adjustable. Well nappa leather is like a mm thicker so maybe he's right hahaha jk.My point is the SX seats are the same length and overall size no matter what. The thigh extender is on all SX models. For us, the SX was the sweet spot safety wise. #1 thing I wanted was blind spot display. 360 camera view is nice too.So you would rather drive a car with no safety technology and this is better? Wouldn't you think that driving a car just like you did 20 years but now having these aids is a better situation?
Coming from a Tesla where all their safety features are either non existent or poorly designed, I welcome the plethora of safety features, even if some are redundant. I actually use one of three blind spot monitors in different scenarios. For us, the SX was the sweet spot safety wise. #1 thing I wanted was blind spot display. 360 camera view is nice too.
Are you saying that the SX has the thigh extender and lumbar support features? To me, the thigh extender adds an extra inch, almost two. If you’re saying that the Prestige seats and the SX seats are exactly the same…then I want a refundMy point is the SX seats are the same length and overall size no matter what. Yes, every SX has the thigh extender (and lumbar support). Are you saying that the SX has the thigh extender and lumbar support features? To me, the thigh extender adds an extra inch, almost two. If you’re saying that the Prestige seats and the SX seats are exactly the same…then I want a refund.
Does anyone have the exact seat measurements? It’s something that most YouTube videos don’t cover.
Got it. Thanks for clarifying.Yes, every SX has the thigh extender (and lumbar support).
Like I said, the only difference is the material and the stitch pattern... the seat shape and function is identical.
Just another instance of a salesman having no idea what they’re talking about. I know we have some really good ones active here on the forum, but in general, most car salesmen cannot be relied upon for accurate info. You need to do your own research and go in well informed. Otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up for being misled and swindled.and the salesman said it was a bigger seat.
This is the SX seat. In fact, the one in the video at that mark is what would be installed in a non-Prestige SX in the United States (it’s what’s on the SX and SX-L Nightsky in Canada). Again, the SX Prestige in the US (and SX-L in Canada) will have identically functioning seats, just wrapped in nappa leather with fancier stitching.Have you seen this? Fast forward to five minutes and change.
Thanks for all the good info. And for pointing this out to me. Now I’m wondering why we sprang for the Prestige. It would’ve been super helpful if all four models were available on the lot to see and test drive. Unfortunately, Covid has ensured that we’re buying blindly.
