In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Got my VIN, but the car is missing the trailer hitch...

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
its on the Kdealer sheet they printed for me when I placed the order. I asked for the tow hitch and crossbars, they came back and said unfortunately the crossbars can't be added at the time but good news, the tow hitch was able to be ordered with the car.

And now if I want to order the crossbars, its like $500+ even though they should have been $310 to buy with the car, that price SHOULD be honored, but it wont be, And I wont be ordering the crossbars...

If you search Amazon there are some affordable crossbars that fit the Kia Telluride and look exactly like the OEM ones. A few people on the forum have tried them and I can’t tell the difference.

Ya I have seen a few mentioned here, thanks for the reminder. Is it just me or do the crossbars on the Telluride seem to be tall.? Is that to clear the sun roof when it opens.? My previous car was a Mitsubishi outlander sport with a "panoramic moon roof" but it didn't open and my crossbars were nice and low profile.

I have OEM ones and I like the look. But I’ve seen pictures on this forum of people with the OEM ones looking taller and complaints about wind noise. It could be that they were installed backwards or the incorrectly with the one meant for the back in front and the front in the back. There is a specific distance between in the manual. There are more expensive Thule ones that are low profile but I worry if I used that it would give me little room to work with and I would rub or scratch the roof.

Very happy today, I got to pickup my Telluride.! In the end, I was able to get the Trailer Hitch installed by the factory.! I contacted a Kia Executive that I had a correspondence with along the waiting period and when I told him that it was showing up without the trailer hitch, he looked into it, said the problem with the hitches had been resolved, and that he could pull the car from getting shipped and install it at the plant.! I was pleasantly surprised they would go through all that to get the hitch on as the car was ordered.
So I had no additional charges when I picked it up. He even shipped the car with factory floor mats in for no charge.! I have to bring it back in a few days for I decided last minute to order side steps and they weren't in yet, so those will be getting installed next week to "complete" it.
And then comes all the aftermarket upgrades to really "complete" it.! haha

so here is the timeline break down I see some people post so others can get an idea of what they might be in for.

Ordered 1/2/22
Sent email to kia on 2/18 inquiring about 23 release date.
Got reply on 2/22
Received Email on 2/25 with eta of 3/30
3/16/22 Vin popped up on Failcat missing trailer hitch. Getting charge 306$ extra at dealership to install..!
3/22/22 - got reply from kia exec, they will install the hitch at the factory and no extra charge at dealership.
3/31/22 - got email at 4:25 my car arrived at the dealership

I knew the car was going to show up in a week or so, but my kia salesman literally called me yesterday and said the car was arriving in a few hours.!
It is even nicer than I remembered when test driving one, but that is probably because this one ins now mine.!

Took it for a night drive to test out the stock headlights. They are not the greatest but not as bad as I expected after all the negative reviews. I already bought Lucas l2's way back in early January, so will be installing those tomorrow along with some other exterior LED upgrades, Bosch Evolution wipers, those airlift 1000 helper bags, and a number of other things. I want to get the ceramic coat on asap, but busy and rainy for the next few days so will have to wait. Going to try to get it in for some of that 3m ir ceramic tint in the next few days.

I ended up paying a good chunk extra at the last minute, went with the 10 year extended bumper to bumper, seemed like it was a good idea at the time, I guess I hope the Kia is such a reliable car that it will never come in handy but then what is the point. haha, I tried thinking up scenarios to ask if it covered it and he said yes to everything so hope that was the truth, cracked sunroof, that is covered, broken tail light housing, covered, etc etc.... If not, oh well, it at least has a 7 year extension on whatever the 3 year covers, electrical and so on.

Now need a break from work to get this road tripper out on the open road and get back to the national parks I have been missing for the last 2 years.!

Thanks for sharing! It's nice to hear customer service and your dealership come through for you. Makes me feel good about Kia's future if there are more stories like this. Good idea to upgrade the bulbs as your first move. IMO anything is going to feel better. Hopefully the Lucas L2s have good LED chip placement and blade thickness to avoid any dark spots in the Telluride's halogen projector housing. Please post back your observations. If they don't work, you can always buy better cheap whiter light halogen bulbs instead of going back to the OEM until you find drop in LEDs you are happy with.

Ya I was very happy to see how willing an executive was to answer emails. I did a good deal of looking around for Headlight upgrades and it seems like the Lucas should be very good. Everyone seems to like that brand and had no complaints but we will see what happens. I hope to get them in today but there is a lot of rain in the forecast. I bought the t60 torx bit you need to adjust the headlight level to try to adjust them so I do not blind oncoming traffic too badly.!

I ordered another part to my future sound system last night. Went with JL c2650 component speakers to replace the front door tweeters and woofer. I am slowly collecting audio parts to be able to do a full upgrade to the sound system. I just hope it doesn't affect any of the built in features. I heard someone lost their driver talk function after doing after market audio upgrades. It will be another month or so for me to get the rest of the audio components and have time to get them all in, I will update as I go along.

Installed the Lucas L2's earlier today. They fit great and were able to be put in without removing the desiccant packet in the back of the headlight housing and no flicker or hyper blink with the turn signals or anything, I will take a test drive tonight to see how they actually look in the dark. The beam they projected onto my garage door was the exact same height and spread of the factory so shouldn't get oncoming traffic flashing me I hope, and the light was obviously nice bright white.
Some of the other lighting did not go so well, all lucas brand, the license plate replacements t10, one worked one was dead in the package, and their 1157SB turn signal/DRL didn't function, no DRL and when the blinker was engaged, hyperflashing and warnings from the car.

Cool! I have Twelvolts in my S but that company appears to have gone out of business during the pandemic. So I glad to have a few backup options that work well with the Telluride CANbus in case mine go bad. Do you know what their color temp is? 5,000-6,000K?

It doesn't give a color temp on the box, they looked very white but that was in daylight testing. may or may not have a tint to the color. I will take it out later tonight and find out.

Well just found this on their website:

Do your headlights have a blue color to them?
No. All of our headlights are set for 6,000 kelvin color temperature, which is a bright “daylight” type of light.
