If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have been waiting on a Telluride order I made through a dealership for almost 10 months now. The dealership tells me that once an order is placed they have no control as to when the order is picked up from the factory. I just spoke with another dealership and they told me that once an order is placed it goes straight into the Kia factory system and I could expect a car within 3 to 4 months. Can anyone clarify how this system works? Trying to figure out how to move forward. Should I stay with my original order or cancel it and place it with someone else? So frustrating.

This is the process as I understand it and I have ordered two now.
If any of this is incorrect, I am sure someone will say something.

1. place order with dealer
2. dealer puts order into kdealer system
3. depending on 100 different variables (dealer, allotment size, trim level ordered, etc) orders are pulled from kdealer and go to KFOS.
4. KFOS means the factory has picked up your order and it is in line to be built
5. vehicle is built and given a VIN
6. once there is a VIN then you can begin to track it from the factory to your dealer
7. arrives at dealer
8. pick up Telluride and enjoy

You essentially asked the same question last October.

Do you know what determines a dealer’s allotment/how many of their orders get picked up by KFOS per month? Do larger dealers have a larger allotment which might make the wait less (although they probably get more orders) vs ordering from a smaller dealer?

I do not.
Yes larger dealers get larger allotments than smaller dealers.
You can get an idea of dealer allotment size here:

or also on

failcat.com

On the dealer allotment size.. the car count on that link is that how many orders they currently have with Kia?

I would say the tellystats is vastly inaccurate. Doesn’t even have my dealer on there and they’ve sold a ton of cars. Failcat is for sure more accurate.

Looks like the dealer (tx071) you order from gets a significant amount per month. Last couple months have been in the 40s.

With that being said that was for all models. You could break it down further to see different models. Each dealership has separate model lists so hypothetically you could be #40 on their list and not see a car for awhile if they only got roughly 5 EXs per month (again just all hypothetical example).
