Just brought my 2020 Telluride in for an oil change and the service rep told me that effective 2021 the manufacturer recommends synthetic oil. Since there wasn't any change to the engine, why did they change and should I switch to synthetic oil for my 2020 Telluride?

Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. It was always synthetic oil recommended. Some dealers probably just never actually read the manual until 2021. Total Quartz is synthetic.
My dealer also tried to convince me the car only took conventional oil in 2020. Then in 2021 the same guy told me synthetic is fine.
