• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I ordered an Ebony Black SX w/Nightfall package, Dune brown interior in March with a eta of 6-8 months and no VIN at this time. This same dealer just informed me that they were allocated a Gravity Gray Nightfall Telly, black interior which will be there May 16, 2022. I have the window sticker, VIN#. There is no markup on either, just a $1000 documentation fee. I was also notified by another dealer that they were allocated a black on black SX Nightfall Telly that will be there June 6, 2022 with a $4000 mark up fee. I was also told that he doesn't have a VIN at this time which has me concerned because I was under the impression that the build starts after a VIN is generated. I am considering the Gravity Gray which was my second choice. Any advice or imput?

Me being the c̶h̶e̶a̶p̶ frugal person I am, unless it was a color I absolutely couldn’t stand (like my parents’ puke green ‘69 Impala back in the day), a color wouldn’t be worth $3,000 to me. A $1,000 doc fee is quite steep, but if the vehicle is truly MSRP otherwise it may not be worth the hassle of a search to save another few hundred. I say go Gray…

The VIN is not created until the vehicle goes into paint.

For the money, would you ultimately regret going with the second choice or would you be perfectly happy with it? If you are the type to dwell on these things, you may want to wait to get what you ordered. If you're the type to make a decision and mentally move on easily, and you like the gray, you will get a car faster. Only you can decide what’s acceptable for you.

I'd personally hold out for a Dune Brown interior but everyone's situation is different.

I agree with @staypuppy and @DarkMossJustin. I settled in early 2020 and the decision bothered me for almost 3 years. I finally ordered exactly what we wanted and now am in auto nirvana. The S was awesome, but getting what you really want changes everything.

My 2 cents. You ordered an SX originally, and you must have had a reason for that. I have a black SX, and it's awesome. Gravity Grey was also my second choice, but I wouldn't have accepted a shorter wait if it meant skipping the SX.

Wait for what you want and don’t settle for something you may regret later.

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'll probably go with the black on black SX-P Nightfall Edition which was my initial choice when I decided on the Telly. The Dune Brown interior wasn't a deal breaker but after everyone's input, the Ebony Black was. Track my Telly has it already delivered at the dealership even though the dealership is now saying the end of the month. They did provide me with a VIN. I'll officially be part of the club soon!!

To me it is all about what interior color you want... brown or black? Because the exterior color of either black or gray look great in the nightfall. If you gotta have brown, you gotta wait it sounds like. Also, I would say your last option (wait until June and pay $4000) is off the table, because why wait 3 weeks and pay 4 grand for the black on black when the gray/black also looks great?

I also concur with above. Go for the '23 if you like the changes. I like my '22 but if I would known the '23 model would finally incorporate usb c when I ordered back in Aug of '21 I may have waited. I know, silly thinking, right? But if you are gonna make your 3rd most expensive decision (after getting married and buying a house) you may as well make it 100% happy.

It's not silly at all. With the little time you spend in the car at times, it's one of the few places that should be quick charging. Also USB-C allows you to power some other devices. They also updated the wireless charging pad to fit larger phones and faster wireless charging. The one that's in the car right now barely charges up my Pixel 6 if at all. I think HDA2 update could be huge to. Lane changing to go along with the driver's assistance? Do any of the other Kias have that? I'm interested to see how good it is compared to Tesla.

You should get the '23 even if you don't like the small redesigns. When and if car values stabilize, getting a '23 will hold it's value a little better since it would only be newer than a '22 by a few months.
