It definitely fits my needs better. I've had it for about 3 weeks put 600 miles on it so far and still have a little over 1/2 tank of gas and averaging 116 MPG. I do mostly city driving, shuttling my wife and daughter to work and school and doing mostly local errands. I charge it every night. Haven't gotten the electric bill yet to see how much it has gone up from charging. Don't have any plans for road trips until the summer to see how it does strictly on hybrid mode.
The interior is smaller but still plenty big for my wife, daughter and myself. The driver's seat in the Telluride was more comfortable to me. I felt it had more cushioning but it might just be a matter of breaking in the
Sorento seat.
I had the SX Prestige version of the Telluride and got the same in the
Sorento. The major cons of the
Sorento to me are that there is no separate rear A/C controls and no vents in the 3rd row. We don't really use the 3rd row but the floor in the 3rd row is a little higher up than the rest of the car because the electric motor and/or battery is located back there so you will be a little more bunched up sitting back there. There's also very little trunk space with the 3rd row up.
The other differences that stuck out to me are there is no heads up display or sunglasses holder and the 2nd row only has heated seats and not ventilated like the Telluride. That last one isn't a big deal for me because my daughter will be in a booster for a few more years.
It cost me about $4000 out of pocket after trading in the Telluride but I'll be able to take advantage of the full federal tax credit. I also would have gotten another $1500 rebate check from the state but on sales paperwork there was a $2000 market adjustment that pushed it over the $50,000 maximum sales price set by the state. My insurance went up maybe $50 for the year. Based on how many miles I've driven, gas prices and my electric rate, I'd estimate that I saved about $150 in gas so far.
Side by side, I like the Telluride better but with the money I'll end up saving from the slight downgrade I'm happy I went with the
Sorento.
