• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Man this is so basic, but I figured I'd ask this crew. When I go to my car at night, I unlock it and open the door... it's total blackness inside. What do I need to do so that the interior lights pop on? Thanks a ton.

Depress the light button (not the light itself) on passenger side of the center roof console.

Sorry, that is pretty non-descriptive, but I can't come up with a better way of saying it.

Press the button labeled "2" (door mode). (page 4-129/4-130 of the owner's manual)

The map lamp and room lamp come on when a door is opened.
The lamps go out after approximately 30 seconds.
- The map lamp and room lamp come on for approximately 30 seconds when doors are unlocked with a smart key as long as the doors are not opened.
- The map lamp and room lamp will stay on for approximately 20 minutes if a door is opened with the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ACC or OFF position.
- The map lamp and room lamp will stay on continuously if the door is opened with the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ON
position.
- The map lamp and room lamp will go out immediately if the ENGINE START/STOP button is
changed to the ON position or all doors are locked.
- To turn off the DOOR mode, press the DOOR button (2) once again (not pressed).

awesome thanks a ton. I must have hit it by accident at some point. I'm used to older school cars with the center sliding switch that basically has on, off, and door mode (though I didn't know it was called that).

You're not alone. My car came like this from the factory and I had to turn it on when I got it.

You are now my new best friend! Thanks so much, even though you were answering me.

Thank you very much for the clear description. I love my 2023 Telluride, but it seems like the simplest things are the hardest to find information about how they work.

2022 Telluride - Interior lighting was working fine. I must’ve hit the “light button” by mistake and changed it where the interior was dark when I opened the car doors. I also thank you for your answer. :-)
