• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2023 Kia Telluride Discussion

Hmm...pretty sure power folding mirrors is new for '23 models
Power folding mirrors have always been a thing on the Palisade… depending on the market.

But it is still not a feature on North American models, even after the facelift.

I continue to not understand why seemingly so many people are so obsessed with power folding mirrors. The only purpose they serve for me on my Telluride is it allows me to know at a glance from a distance if my car is locked. That’s it. These aren’t wide cars with gigantic mirrors.

The utility of power-folding mirrors is not determined by the absolute width of the vehicle, but by the dimensions of drivers' environments: garages, parking spaces, tight streets and alleys, etc. Circumstances obviously will differ.

Personally, I find the mirrors on the Telluride quite helpful -- functionally, not just informationally -- and I especially appreciate the ability to fold and unfold the mirrors while sitting inside the car.

I am not a big user of power folding mirrors but I would go gaga for surround view monitor being a stand alone option. I don't really care for 95% of the "upgrades" you get above the LX trim but I really need surround view monitor in order to stresslessly squeeze into my narrow urban garage. Unfortunately parking sensors just aren't good enough for me in any car I've been in (they tend to beep like crazy when I still think I have plenty of room).

I just talked to my dealer today to find out about my order (I'm currently #2 on the list), he told me I'm likely to get a 2022. And that 2023s wouldn't be in production until September. Anyone heard anything else from their dealer? I ordered in Oct 2021 and was told 9 months.

There was a post on a FB group showing very brief info on '23 Kia models and it did note MY23 Tellurides would start being built in September. But I don't think any dealers yet have ordering info for them. Some post on here had mentioned August 11th or such as a date for having the MY23 order details.

For my wife's comfort in pulling in to our single car garage, they're a necessity.

Heck, with a 2023 Palisade Calligraphy, you could stop in front of your garage door, pop your mirrors in yourself (or just leave them out when you see how much extra room you have), and pull your car in remotely with your key. And then just do the reverse when you leave.

(As I'm picking up a sense of humor in that post, I'll reply with one too :) )
I can tell you my wife's answer would be "you're right honey, that's so much more convenient to do that while standing in the rain instead of just pressing a button to fold them and easily drive in to the dry garage". Living in the Pacific NW has its downsides.

That aside, I do think the self park feature is cool on the Palisade.

I am a big fan of power folding mirrors. If you don't understand why folks are obsessed with them, then that's OK...you don't need to.

Yeah, it really doesn’t matter to me one way or another, at least on vehicles like this.

But it’s certainly the number one thing people in the Palisade world like to complain about, and they bring it up all the time. And if they didn’t already talk about it enough, it was renewed and amplified with the facelift, especially once it was confirmed they still didn’t have power folding mirrors in the North American market.

I’ve said it before, but I think it speaks to how well-rounded these vehicles are that relatively little nitpicks become huge problems for all kinds of people on forums and online groups. Gotta complain about something, I guess.

I was told the same, production starts in September and they hit dealerships in October.

Looking forward to confirmation when KFOS will begin accepting orders for dealer allocations. Currently driving a 2022 Acura MDX Type S Advance and very excited about coming back to KIA. The Acura has it's strengths but overall the Telluride wins in almost every category. Has anyone successfully placed an order for a 2023 yet?

What's wrong with Type S? I think it's an excellent vehicle.

Telluride might have more interior space but other than that, the $72k Type S Advance should be superior in every aspect. 🤷‍♂️

I thought the same thing before purchasing. Had a 21 SXP nightfall (which appreciated over 10k, so I used that money for the Acura).

The Acura was superior in a few big ways of course. Handling, performance, driving dynamics, sound system, and the interior mood lighting. As for the Telluride almost all of the tech, self driving, and safety systems just work better. It feels as though the Telluride is a full generation ahead of the Acura in the tech category.

The Telluride has an actual touch screen with full screen CarPlay. I cannot even begin to tell you how dangerous it is on the Acura operating a touch pad at highway speeds. HDA 1 smokes the Acura self drive features... the Acura recognizes maybe 15-20% of the roads as compared to the Kia. The Lane Keep Assist in the Telluride also works worlds better. Other than the Acura being way more fun to drive, it is a very stressful ride after driving the Kia for almost 2 years.

Performance and driving fun alone the Acura wins but if you are looking for balance and superior tech the Telluride is the move all day.

Very interesting - thank you for sharing your experience (y)

Fair enough. It's funny I like both of these vehicles. Acura is on the top of our list since my wife doesn't want the captain's chairs on the top level Kia.

No offense but people doing what you do is probably one of the reasons the market is so crazy right now. Unless you have a lease that needs to be turned over, most people would probably hang on to their vehicles for 3-5+ years. Trading-in annually keeps the new car shortage going while propping up the used car prices. It's definitely easy when you don't have to eat the depreciation on a trade-in. Without the unusual prices, Type S probably would sell for $65k but I'm not sure if we'll ever get back to those days. It does look like the used car market is starting the trend downwards lately but we'll see how long it takes...

Of course it's a free economy and you can do whatever you want.

Has anyone heard on timing updates from dealers or when the 2023 build will open on Kia’s website. Getting annoyed with our traverse :)
