Are there significant differences between SX and SX prestige?

Just like everyone else in this forum, I was told that I will have to wait hopefully by the end of August or September to order a Telluride SX Prestige package. In the mean time, I am thinking if I just order SX without prestige package by saving $4,000 (NOT getting AWD as well) or wait until KIA takes an order for prestige package? Ayone those who own a Telluride SX and SX packge, I do appreciate your response for making a better decision!

I wanted to SXP, but I bought SX AWD with standard package because of long waiting. Sometimes I miss the second row heated/ventilated seats and HUD, but I'm still satisfied with SX standard package. Unless those two features are must have items for you, standard package would be a good choice I think.

That's going to depend on what you deem as needed features. Some think none of those listed above are necessary, thus not worth the extra cost. I personally think the Heads Up Display all alone is worth it. I never had a HUD until the Stinger, and now that I've used it, I think it's worth the extra money all by itself. I consider it not only a nice convenience, but a great safety feature that keeps you from being distracted from looking away from the traffic. I never have to lookdown to see speed, don't have to look at the screen for my next turn. Don't have to look in my mirrors to see if someone is in my blind spot.. don't even have to look at the radio when I change a station to see what station it's on. The heated and cooled 2nd rows are a big bonus IMO.

Two of the items on that Prestige package list — heated steering wheel and active on-demand AWD with lock and snow mode — are included with some other levels as well. I have both of those features on my EX.

I can't stand knowing there were goodies available for my vehicle that I didn't get in mine. It's crazy, yes, but true. Therefore, I would not have purchased any other model than the SXP. For me, its kinda like wine. Until you taste the really good stuff, Boone's Farm or MD seems good enough.

Aside from the list above there are other "improvements" on the SXP such as different foam in the seats which make the seats more comfy, added insulation, etc. You have to attain the detailed specs through a dealer to identify these minute differences.

I love the power inverter, HUD, and rain-sensing windshield. I sense the SXP is quieter than the SX while driving down the freeway. The 20 inch Black Wheels alone are worth $2,000 IMO. Being able to get the Black Copper paint and Dune Brown leather were essential for us. The black suede headliner looks and feels super luxurious.

Finally, having the AWD is a super nice feature that will retain its value, especially on such a large SUV. Last weekend we took ours to Phoenix and back, 450ish miles each way. It was the most pleasant experience I've had in a vehicle that cost less than $75,000 when new. There is a meter that shows the power distribution between front and rear wheels. Unless driving aggressively uphill, it was always in front-wheel drive. On our return drive we averaged 24.2 mpg at 84 mph for 451 miles and on the way there into the wind we averaged 23 mpg. Pretty dang good, imo.

If you can wait, wait for the SXP.

With you on the HUD and sensing windshield, but what do you use the power inverter for ? I thought I'd love it then found out half the stuff I plug in there doesn't work as they draw too much power.

Thats the shortlist we came up with...good for charging the mac, camera batteries...but quickly ran out of things that weren't already covered by USB ports.

Think it depends on whether you want your Telluride to be more like a lux CUV on a budget (which are the main things the PP brings).

W/o it. still very nice (for the class), but the PP makes it more like an MDX competitor.

I ordered an SX AWD but have not received it yet, so I can't speak from driving experience. Here was my reasoning for ordering SX vs SXP. The HUD was the only thing I would have wanted. I have HUD in the Acadia Denali we are trading in, I don't have it on my Lexus, or the Taurus/Explorer Interceptors I drive for work. I have gone plenty fast with out HUD and been just fine. I also am pretty good about estimating mine and others speed with out looking. I like the Dune Interior however I didn't find it $2000 (and associated taxes and registration fees) better then the non nappa butterscotch interior. I have never been impressed with rain sensing wipers that I have used. My kids ride in the second row captains chairs 98% of the time and they don't need heated and cooled seats. To be honest the wife and I almost never use the front heated and cooled seat features on our current cars. It's a neat feature to have but in my opinion only to say look at my "ooh lah lah" luxury options. In the end it came down to money for me. The prestige package would have only been about $36 a month extra or so in financing, which is not bad. I didn't find that I "needed" it for an extra $432 a year (plus other expenses). I think if you value the extra options and it's within your budget, then get it.

Or Georgia. I use the seat cooling feature in my Cadenza and Sedona all the time. The heated seat & steering wheel get use quite frequently in the winter months as well. I wouldn't want to live without either one.

When I was shopping around I told my wife, there were 2 must haves on my new vehicle. Heated steering wheel and power folding mirrors (as I have taken off 2 of them on other vehicles... lol)
At first was not sure about liking the ventilated seats (but was sold on heated seats as have them on all my other cars), but with the run of 90+ days recently, I like them.

Got mine last night - LOVE the HUD, LOVE the ventilated seats and I never thought I would have. Really like the headliner. Seats are a dream but not sure how different they would be from a model without the Nappa.
