  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi,

New to the board here and hope this is in the right spot, but I have been reading most of the threads. I have a question for thoughts from the board.

I put down a deposit with Ft. Bend Kia in early February. It is for MSRP flat with no markups and is in writing and everything I've heard and read about this dealership is that they will honor that. Based on a call with my salesperson, I am close to the top of the the list to switch from a 2022 to 2023 Telluride (he said Dec/Jan is up when 2023 orders open).

Since that time, my situation has changed and I "may" not go thru with the purchase. So my questions for the board are:

1. Is there an option/possibility to "sell" the wait listed vehicle? I.e., have someone pay me to step in my shoes for the purchase?

2. Would doing so be uncool?

3. If its possible, I assume the classifieds board is the right place to post?

After waiting 7 months and being so close now, I'm torn, but I just wanted to explore some possibilities. Thanks.

1 - Depends on dealership but likely not possible to have them just sell to someone that you're profiting on selling your spot to.
2 - yes, absolutely uncool
3 - Pretty sure you're posting here hoping someone will IM you and offer you cash to take your spot. Before you try that you'll want to check with your dealer.

And also consider that coming on here with a profiteering first post is unlikely to be well received. If you don't want it then just pass on it so that the next person in line with the dealer can get theirs.

Thanks. I recognize the cynicism of motivations of human behavior. Had
I intneded this route, I would have posted much sooner. But admittedly, I am contemplating some profit off this, but nothing ridiculous - it could be a win win situation. I will check with my dealer to see the transferability. With respect to #3, I hadn't thought of that at all.

Lastly, in reading your reply I now see that the thread title looked like a classified, so I changed the title to more of a question rather than an ad - I realize it doesn't change the content.

Dealer will simply say “see you later” and move down the line. You will not make any money off anything.

Put the ethics aside, most likely you are not allowed to sell your “spot” since the initial agreement is under your name when you left the deposit to the dealer. If you want to turn this build order into a profit, why wouldn’t the dealer want to do this theirselves?

Ft bend Kia is very strict about the que, and will ONLY pass your car to some one else in the queue behind you. They will sell only to Houston local. They WILL NOT let you sell your position in line but you can cancel and get your money back. If you would like to make some money off of this, then your only option is taking delivery and then selling it outside after registration.

Thank you for that information.

No don’t be a douche. Just cancel your order and get your refund back and be happy with it.
