• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Please help! my 2021 Telly S model won’t start, I get an error “Check ESC“. Has anyone had this problem? I will say that for the past few days I got a warning that “battery discharge due to external electrical devices”. At the time I didn’t know what that meant but I think it’s because I had a GPS plugged into the cigarette lighter. It was unplugged a couple of days ago so why still a problem? I did try to turn ESC off per instructions from owners manual but system was unresponsive.
I feel like the battery isn’t dead but….could it be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Will be calling roadside assistance in the morning, don’t know what else to do. So glad I’m home and Telly is in the garage.

Same problem this morning on my 2020. I have 30k miles on it. Has anyone gotten a good resolution from the dealer? Thanks!

Same issue on my 2020. Randomly has the error and then if jumped or wait some time it starts.

Hey everybody, I was able to resolve this with a new battery. I took it to AutoZone and had them test it, sure enough the battery was very weak. $250 later, it's all good. Some of you who are having trouble getting this diagnosed, remember the alternator is charging the battery as you drive, so it may not test low when you get to the garage or dealership.

I have the same issue, also purchased a battery. Then, about a week or two later, began having the same problem. I checked with my multimeter and there is a 4 amp draw (alternator is good) and nobody is able to figure out where it's coming from. Please let me know if it was just the battery or something else. I hope you don't experience the same frustrations as I have.

I'm having this with my 2022 K5, and it only has 5800 miles on it. Any updates on what is causing this?

Please HELP ME, I am reviewing the forum here due to the fact that my Telluride 2020 model S, for 2 months started with a failure of not wanting to start, I went to check the battery and they replaced me because it was bad, after a few days it began to the problem again, in fact I have to be aware of turning off the auto stop/Run system, since after releasing the brake the engine does not start, I have tested the battery again and they tell me that it is good, sometimes I have to wait a good time for it to start. Today it did not want to start anymore, I tried to help it with another battery and with the Jump, but it did not start, everything works, everything turns on but my truck does not start, I do not have any light on the dashboard on. I had to tow it to my house, I don't know what to do. Does anyone have a solution to this same problem?

They were able to fix your truck. I have the same problem. I don't know what to do, can you help me please?

When the battery is replaced, the computer(s) must be reset. One way to do it (this way didn't work for me) is, start the vehicle then immediately shut it off 5 times consecutively. Or, have it scanned and reset with a code reader by an experienced and trusted mechanic. That way any codes that were thrown fron a bad battery are cleared and it starts fresh, so to speak.

Update; I was able to figure out on my '20 SX that the draw is coming from the modular 9 fuse, inside under the steering wheel. It leads to several things but through a process of elimination, it's the LDC (not LCD) assembly unit behind the glove box. This is strange because I'm unable to find very much information on this part and what it does. What I do find is, all about EV's. I don't believe Telluride's have an all electric option but, this part clearly powers other things like the radio and the seats. If you can, hook up a volt meter in series to the battery (if you don't know how, look it up on YouTube it's very easy) and see if it has a draw. Then pull the modular 9 fuse. It's on the top row 3rd from the right and see if the draw drops. If so, there's your problem. Good luck all.

Finally, after having to use 2 trailers and trying to solve it at home, in the workshop where I took it they found the fault, it was the starter which was burned, I tried to get the starter here in Houston and no one had it at all USA, the price is $600, but I had to put a used one from Hyundai Palisade which cost $85 and is exactly the same starter, it only changes the final numbering in the original part number, 150 for Kia and 160 for Hyundai Palisade This is what they got me and it works perfectly for me, I give you the same recommendation that they gave me in the workshop, if you want the starter to last longer, deactivate the Stop/Start function when you start your SUV, since for so much use this is damaged. The failure from the start seemed like the bad battery and a (TOC TOC) sound was heard when trying to turn it on several times. I could also smell burning when it finally stopped working completely. The solenoid and starter burned out. Both pieces (Starter $370 and Solenoid $100) can be obtained separately from OEM, but it took more than 2 weeks to arrive

Good to hear that you got it handled. I'll definitely look into that because, I have a sneaky suspicion that I have more than just the one thing giving me problems. Thanks for the update.

Ok after 5 weeks in the dealer repair shop they think they fixed it. First they replaced the entire fuse box. (Seemed a strange diagnosis but…). Then they replaced the BCM (body control module). They determined that the BCM was not supplying output to ignition due to an internal short. I also replaced the battery as it was 3.5 years old and not fully recharging. Has been 2 days and no issues as of yet. Hope this helps someone with similar problem. Was done under warrantee so no out of pocket cost (other than 5 weeks without the vehicle!)
