• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Quick ?. My dealer told me they recommend to have oil change every 3-6 months or every 3,500 miles. But I thought warranty required it at 7k miles. Is this just my dealer trying to get me in to pay for intermediate services? Advice welcomed. Thanks.

My question is if I service my own vehicle (oil changes) will the dealer give me crap if I need something taken care of under warranty. I dislike having anyone touch my vehicles if i can help it..

Unless you record the service done ---- KIA will not honor the warranty without any record of service (SNAKES)

I would keep a log in a book and keep receipts of oil and filters... Stinks to think they could still mess with you..

Filming a video will be the only proof that you service the vehicle I think (become a YouTuber ) LOL!!!!!

As stated above, keep records. My Son has a Forte and with 67K on the clock, the engine froze up. He showed them the records and they approved a new engine under warranty for him even though the dealers did not do the maintenance. He kept the receipts which had the mileage of when it was done and his VIN on it. The ones he did himself, he just kept the receipts showing the correct filters and oil and wrote down the mileage on those receipts.

To answer your original question, the owner’s manual specifies oil and filter change every 7,500 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first, for normal service. For severe usage conditions, the specification is every 3,750 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.

Thanks
