If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... FCA Error - Radar Disabled

As a general time of thumb, don’t use smart cruise control or rely on the FCA systems where there is any precipitation.

I'm fine with that, but the system should disable itself in those conditions if it can't work reliably, particularly the SCC.

I have noticed that it doesn't detect the car in front of me while using ACC, and in two cases I came close to rear-ending a car.
In this scenario, did you have your SCC reaction time set to fast and car leading vehicle distance set to furthest?

Could have been within normal tolerance depending on the settings. Feeling like SCC is getting to close to the leading car without breaking can be subjective.

I don't know what the reaction time setting was - usually it's the middle value but it's possible it was set to fastest or slowest. Normally my following distance is set to closest or second closest, but I don't remember in this case (most likely closest). I don't think that's the issue, for a few reasons:

1. The distance I was from the car in front of me (which was going a steady speed) was about 1/4 to 1/3 of the closest I have ever gotten under normal highway driving conditions.
2. My car was still accelerating.
3. The "car in front" graphic was not being displayed - the system didn't know the car was there.

I tested it 2 or 3 times (same car, same conditions), and it did the same thing each time. I noticed at some point that it wasn't displaying the "car in front" graphic, and I later verified that it does in fact display something when it detects a car (I couldn't remember in the moment.)

I agree it is subjective, but I'd wager that 10 out of 10 drivers would consider it way too close.

This issue happened to my Telluride as well. It gives me a warning ⚠️ that the FCA is not working and radar is blocked. The adaptive cruise control will not work as well. The system is not recognizing the car in front. I just dropped the car off at the dealership. They said they’ve not seen this issue yet but I told them I found a forum that this has happened to many people.
Im having the same problem with my 2021 Telluride SX and the dealership is no help. Did you get yours fixed?

What are the outside conditions when this happens? If it is raining or snowing even a little bit this happens and typically will clear once conditions improve or you manually remove snow or dry area.

If it is happening when it is dry and no issues you might check to see if someone has bumped the front area or you have bumped a parking pilon etc and damaged the housing on the outside where the sensor sits. I found with mine (2020 EX) that there was an internal issue with the plastic around where the sensor was that was interferring and had to really fight that is was not damaged from the outside to get the sensor replaced under warranty.

Two of three times I was driving in wet conditions with large snowflakes falling. The third occurrence last Friday was only light rain. I found a notice in the owners manual warning not to spray pressurized water in the sensor or sensor cover. Who doesn’t take their vehicle to a car wash??? The manual also warns that the sensor might be moved out of proper alignment. Thank You.

Any update on this? Having the same issue.
I have same issue on 2022 telluride only 3 months old. less than 5k miles. dropped off at dealer on 6/6/22; its 6/9/22 and no resolution. they can't find the problem. what was your resolution?

i just dropped off my 2022 telluride for radar blocked issue. it's desert here and have had the issue intermittently since buying in march 2022. Dealer has not found a resolution yet. Please let me know if/how your resolution.

Check your radar plate on the front of the vehicle and clean it, make sure there's no bugs or bug juice on it.
Have dealer check the adjustment of the radar unit. When they adjusted mine it fixed the same issues you are describing on my 2022 telluride

I love my EX 2021 Telluride, but the FCA shuts down often, and mostly when a car is in front of me, the time when I need it most. Got the runaround with the dealership after several, visits: 1) nothing wrong, 2) Intermittent short in the camera (top of windshield), 3) replaced the camera but unable to calibrate it, 4) NO we were able to calibrate it, 5) Though duplicated the FCA shutdown with Kia tech in passenger seat, I was told that it was normal(???) Have escalated the issue with KIA corporate and will give the dealership one more try before declaring it under the lemon law. A $50k SUV should not have such a defective safety issue.

Finally got rid of the '21 Telluride because the FCA fault couldn't be fixed, got a '22 and all is good now...of course I had to put up $$$ for the newer year and added accessories. I understand that an unofficial "recall" for FCA fault has been issued. Bummer!

Since the dealer couldn't fix the FCA fault I got rid of it and traded for a '22 with a few more options. I love the '22 and have had no issues with the FCA or anything else. After I traded a service bulletin was issued by KIA for a software update. Not sure if this would have fixed my '21 FCA issue, but I hope for those of you with the same issue, that it has remedied your problem.

Sorry if this is a silly question, new owner here so bare with me lol. Where is the sensor and plate? Isn't it on the top of the windshield?
Can you please send a photo for sensors and plat location

The dealer updated the FCA when I took my '20 in for an oil change last week. So, the "fix" is out there.

200miles on my Kia Forte GT and I experienced the radar blocked notification twice so far. Collision is also detected 1 time a minute sometimes 5-6times in a row for no reason. Wondering if they are going to charge me a diagnostic fee for this problem. Waiting for it to happen again I guess.

Ok, so I have been following this thread for a while. I have been working with my local dealership to figure this intermittent, no rhyme or reason as to why the smart radar and/or fca get disabled because its blocked. Of course it is never blocked. Well we figured it out and i bet it's the fix for many of you. The bracket my sensor under the plate was attached to was bent. It needed to be 90°, mine was 87. They bent it back and reprogrammed the radar sensor alignment in the shop. They said it was only the third time they saw it and both other times the owners admitted to running the plastic bumper into a snowbank. The sensor placement is horrible and if you hit anything slightly the Plastic will bend but not break but might bend the bracket.

Hope this helps any pf you out!

I have a 2021 Telluride and it has been doing the "Forward Collision - Avoidance Assist (FCA) system disabled. Radar blocked"
intermittently for over a year now. I do not want to get rid of it. I like it a lot but this error happens so frequently. Making the Cruise Control inoperable. Dealership service tech said it needed to be recalibrated but they did not have the tool to do it. The dealership that had one that could do it is 45 mins away on the other side of town... :( .... But it sounds like that is NOT the right fix based on these examples. I guess I need to find out more about this RECALL for FCA and/or adjustments to my radar plate.

Mine was resolved when plate and sensor were replace. A defect was found on the INSIDE of the plate. No exterior damage. Covered under warranty.

I had my 2021 KIA Telluride for 3 1/2 yrs and 65,000 miles. This was my biggest issue. KIA should issue a recall and replace every owners plate and sensor
