Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

I paid $1100 for the 8/120k warranty thru Kia of Muncie when I bought my Telly in fall 2020. Prices have really gone up on these plans. Thankfully I haven't had to use it yet. Has anyone who has this warranty thru KoM made a claim against it yet?
So you spent $1100 and you are thankful that it was never used. I spent $0 and even more thankful.

Yes, I still have many, many years and many many miles left on the warranty…and my Crystal ball is still in the shop right now, so I don’t know when my car is going to break down.

It’s called “insurance” policy. I pay for car insurance and homeowners insurance, neither of which I have ever used either. But it’s there if I need it. For those of us who can afford to purchase this warranty without financial stress, it’s peace of mind. If you can’t afford it, OR choose not to have it, good for you! No reason to be petty or a hater because I chose to have it! My choice.

Exactly right. The value of insurance is NOT comprised solely by the repairs it pays for. Car repairs can occasionally be extremely costly. Just like with home and health, for some there's value in not having to plan for the possibility of a potentially very large expense. Others choose to self-insure, and that's fine too.

I've had exactly one issue with my 2021 Telluride - the GPS module, after the 36k Kia electronics warranty expired. For an electronics-related issue, it was a tiny problem. The cost at the dealer was almost exactly what I paid for my extended warranty. So in theory I'm now at a break even point, now with about 40k left to go.

Some look at it as "insurance". The car and home insurance you mention is required so it really isn't much of a choice, is it? Plus you have options to look at other carriers and plans to check prices. Others look it at as pure profit for dealers. Why else would they hold buyers hostage for hours trying to get them to sign. Because they care so much about them? No pettiness towards anyone here, its your money. I just think there are too many taken advantage of this business practice hence they HUGE disparity of prices quoted. What wrong with one price for the same plan throughout all the dealers, and not trying to get on a forum and track who go the best deal?

There are several different options and carriers. I didn't buy the warranty from the same dealer I purchased the car from. I wasn't held hostage. I shopped around and compared, just like I did with homeowners and auto insurance. Certainly the dealer makes a profit on the sale, just as insurance brokers do when they sell a homeowners plan offered by a major underwriter. But just because the dealer makes money on them doesn't mean it is undoubtedly a poor purchase for the consumer. These days, a vehicle can cost as much to purchase as my first house did. Repairs of electronics and computer subsystems can cost many thousands and are not covered as long as mechanical components by the standard manufacturer warranty.

It's certainly a personal choice. When it comes to extended warrantees on appliances, TVs, etc ... I always say no because the likelihood of an incident is small and the cost of replacement is relatively low. But with the Telluride over 100k or 150k miles, the likelihood of a few incidents seems much higher, as is the potential cost of repair. Whether a person should absorb that risk with their personal cash flow, or mitigate it with an extended warranty depends very much on their own financial situation and tolerance for such surprises.

I wasn’t held hostage at Kia of Muncie for this. In fact I approached Craig and Lucas about it. No pressure, no hard sell from them. They gave me the information about the plan and said to let them know if I wanted it. That was the extent of my warranty discussion with them. Do other dealerships operate with the same respect and professionalism that Kia of Muncie exhibits? Don’t know. I only know my experience. This thread is for people interested in hearing from those that DID purchase the warranty. Don’t troll threads. If you don’t have the warranty then you aren’t really contributing much to this conversation.

What is the current go-to source for best deal on genuine Kia extended warranties?

Does this warranty from fidelity (platinum) cover things like led headlamps and other led components (drl, turn signals, etc..)?

Their exclusion list mentions light bulbs, but what about led bulbs?

I think if your LED bulbs have just burned out, they probably won’t cover that. If they are defective and don’t work, that’s another issue and I will discuss it with your dealership service rep.I think if your bulbs have just burned out, they probably won’t cover that. I called up fidelity. According to the agent the led devices are covered (inc headlamps, drl, turn signals, brake/tail lights, etc.) under the platinum plan. According to the agent LED's are not bulbs, they are circuitboards with semiconductors.

That is a caveat. They are covered so long as there's no physical damage present (rock chip, chewed wires or the like).

We did. $1k and extended everything bumper to bumper for 125k miles or 10yrs. ABS system or navigation would set me back that easily
This sounds like a steal. Where did you get it and did you have to negotiate for it? Have you used it? Thanks

KIA's price for the extended warranty is now $3,136 . . .

So I've recently had a mechanical failure of the driver side rear view mirror which is affecting all the electronic warning signals in there dashboard. Repair Estimate was over 2k because I had over 60k miles, so standard warranty no longer covered this electronic failure. Cost to me is $0 because of my extended warranty. I didn't even get charged $150 diagnostic fee Kia Service charges. So I did win in my case. And I still have 50k miles left on warranty. Super happy I paid for this warranty!
