Just glad it shows example of size and nature of hail. The email was much longer and referenced other topics. So just grab these photos to put into scope what the factory actually dealt with.
 
This is US Wide for every dealership correct? Do the dealerships have an option to do it because my dealership has been telling they haven't been affected by the storm and have not heard of any incentives. Both of which I find very hard to believe.

Thanks for the quick response! That is what I was thinking. I'm hoping as I get closer to possible delivery the dealership opens up more. Don't like the feeling now of them trying to pull the wool over my eyes.
 
I wish someone, somewhere knew something about when the damaged cars will be delivered. The transportation logistics group at the plant site surely has a general delivery schedule by now.
 
My Telluride was one of the vehicles with the hail damage. I just found out yesterday and I'm now deciding whether I want to keep the vehicle or not. Does anyone know if Kia is going to send us pictures/ information about the damage sustained? I also heard that in order to get the 2K rebate you would need to sign some sort of document (probably to not make Kia liable for any future issues associated with the repairs). Does anyone know about that, too?

I don’t know how to link conversations but there is a chain on the topic called ‘Hail damage’ and someone uploaded the disclosure document in the discussion ‘track my car’. You’ll find all available Intel in those discussions (sadly not a lot but at least something…)

We cancelled ours and had the dealer place a new order. My father is a retired mechanic and has worked in many different dealers and all car manufactures really just care about the bottom line. In this case I did my research on the size of the hail in this storm, without any details on how bad our specific car was damaged and how it was repaired we just weren't buying a hail damaged new car. So now we wait until the next one arrives which is months away.
 
If I were put in this position, I would 100% turn down that offer. $2k isn’t enough and if you tried to resell this vehicle later with known hail damage, you are going to lose more than $2k. Not sure what my price point would be but probably more like in the 5-10k range.
 
Paint less dent removal people are talented. I bet they could fix it and you would never know anything ever happened.

News you can use. Probably not good news. With next to zero helpful information coming from Kia, I had the idea to call the Paintless Dent Repair shops in the West Point area. First call gave me a reference to a second shop. Guy at second shop isn’t doing work on repairing the new cars that were damaged. However, one of the Kia employees from the factory brought in his own damaged car to get an estimate. The estimate was $7,000 and the damage was pretty bad from the hail.

From the above chit chat, the shop learned that there is a large company contracted to do the repairs on the 13,000 (not a typo) new cars that were damaged. The company has brought in workers from all over the US and other countries to perform the repairs.

I do not like the math on how long it may take to get through 13,000 cars.

The shop did say not to worry about paint or clear coat or sheet metal that has been repaired…..even 5 years later. He did say that if the roof was damaged on Tellurides, it might be sent back through the factory to get that portion replaced.

If you look at the last 6 digits of your VIN number, I think it was around the 380xxx - 390xxx range that were hail damaged and they were all 2023s. So if yours is a 2024, it's in the clear. If it's a 2023 and hasn't been delivered yet, you could probably post your VIN in the Track Your Vehicle thread to see if it was affected?

What does your dealer have to say? They get to see all the VINs and whether they have suffered hail damage.

I didn’t ask. Im guessing they would lie now anyway. It did have a paint imperfection i had them fix. Of course the body shop screwed up some other places while doing that

So you've got the car. Do you see any evidence of hail damage? If the hail was large enough, it would have dented all along the top surfaces.
If the factory fixed it - it's a new car, unblemished.

Maybe a dent on top. And I wondered if the hood paint blemish was because it was repaired? 🤷‍♂️
