• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Does anyone know what would cause a slow throttle response on the telluride

Snow mode. Other drive modes. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Without more detail in your question, you might not find out what you are looking for.....

"Smart" seems to give me fast response sometimes and slow response other times. This random drive mode stuff is among the worst features of the car. Just let me set the car the way I want it and then leave me alone. Had I really understood what an obnoxious mess it is I may not have bought the car.

Maybe the drive mode can affect throttle response? I have not experimented with that as yet

Yes. I'm pretty sure that is what is happening. "Smart" switches modes based only on its own opinions.

Yup. Me, too.
I think it is a great car, amazing safety protections built in.From what I read in the owners manual the car adjusts to your driving style. The sport mode is supposed to have a better throttle response.I have not tried it yet though.

Exactly. Your manual will also tell you that you can't leave the car in sport mode. Some idiot programmer has decided that you must always start in a mode chosen by the programmer, not by you.

I thought that I was buying a car here. I didn't realize I was getting a surrogate mother

You are right about the surrogate. However,I think the program requires a return to default, the same as the on/off button.

Yes it does. The question is whether it should. The car belongs to the customer, not to the programmer
The Telluride puts safety first. The car won't even move if my safety belt isn't on.I think that is a great feature to have.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that "feature" so I tested it on a quick grocery run this morning. Seat belt light came on during all-bulb-test and was not seen again. Also no beeping and no issue with driving before I fastened the belt. This may actually be a manufacturing defect: "Federal safety standards require a belt reminder system for drivers that provides a warning light and an audible warning lasting 4-8 seconds." (Seat belts)

Not a big deal one way or another because my belt habit is very strong.

It's good that you use a seat Belt.If a door is slightly ajar the system will.beep like mad.and the car is moving until the door is fully closed.

For maximum responsiveness, maybe drive in Sport Mode? 🤣

Otherwise, you're just driving a Utility Vehicle.

I tried sport mode in town and it did make a difference perhaps too much of a response.Eco mode feels comfortable in town. For me,I would use sport mode on the hiway,if needed, like for passing.

I wish Kia would allow me to preserve Sport Mode permanently after parking and turning off the car.

It defaults to “Comfort” and I have to manually rotate the dial back to “Sport” each time.

It’s like a ritual every morning:

• unlock Telluride
• turn it on
• click the stupid “disable auto start/stop” button
• rotate the drive mode knob to “Sport”
• turn on headlights, fog lights
• connect my phone to the USB
• take a sip of coffee
• drive

It stupidly keeps the drive mode settings that are the least useful to me: Comfort and Smart and Eco (i’ll use Eco only for ideal and fast freeway conditions when pedal response is barely necessary, i.e. coasting downhill and/or feathering the pedal on flat, clear, dry, freeways with little traffic at 75-80 mph for long drives)

Sadly, Kia refuses to allow me to set-it-and-forget-it for Sport.

Doesn’t SUV stand for SPORT Utility Vehicle?

Nanny State Nonsense. 🤡🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

If you drive in Smart mode, it stays. Smart mode will switch into Sport quite regularly depending upon how you drive. I have the same frustration as you, and switching to Smart mode was a good compromise.

“Smart” takes far too long to switch drive modes, so I don’t use it.

Much faster to just manually switch between Sport and Eco (if the ideal situation arises: no traffic, flat freeway, only need to feather the pedal).
