Yes, you would just cut into this harness for your install instead of the factory wiring. If you plan to keep your aftermarket equipment when you finally move on from your Telly, simply remove this harness and plug the factory connector back into the amp and it's right back to stock.

There was a min quantity purchase for the connectors so I do have extra parts on-hand to make a couple more harnesses if there is any interest out there in the community.

Like others here I am reluctant to cut/tap into the factory wiring for the audio system and since I could not find one commercially available yet, I went ahead and made my own breakout harness for the Harman Kardon amplifier in my SX. I plan to install a new amp/dsp in a few months and this was the first step in my process. Bottom line it permits installation of aftermarket audio components without cutting/tapping of factory wires while also maintaining full use of that same factory wiring for speakers (we've seen elsewhere the challenges of running new speaker wire out into the doors). Thus far it works flawlessly with all channels intact for this particular connector...the center channel and front tweeter channels are located on the 2nd amp connector (w/inputs, pwr, gnd, etc), but I do not plan to use those in my future setup (disabled and crossover, respectively).

BTW, I snagged one of these harnesses - very clean work - haven't had a free moment to complete my installation, however, I'm pleased I don't have to hack up that harness in the car.

This is for the H/K amp outputs, so speaker level. It's called a "breakout" harness so you can directly tap it for signal or add aftermarket components AFTER the H/K amp while still having the option to utilize all the stock wiring.

@HLXHLX I'd also be interested in a breakout harness if they are still available. I have a Helix DSP and a couple Stereo Integrity amps I may try to install if they don't go in my other car.

Rather than start a new thread, figured I'd post my system update in here since this is where anyone who's looking would come.


I didn't take great pics during the install, but did take some. I did the install 100% myself, and I've been in and around 12v since 94 or so. I custom made the door baffles for the speakers and tweeters, and used solder butt connectors for all connections EXCEPT when I needed to be able to unplug something (rear door tweeter, for example, when you remove door panel).


Front stage is a set of classic MB Quart Q series separates - QM218 6.5"; Rear stage is a set of Focal 6.5 Performance separates, with a Kicker 200.4 DSP amp powering them. Have a JL Audio slim 8" in the back powered by an AudioControl 300.1 DSP mono amp.




I went through my pile of AV gear, and it turns out I have an AudioControl LC6i Line Convertor that I used to use, but no longer.


So, I grabbed the signals from the front tweeters, the front woofers, and the rear speakers, input them all into the LC6i, summed them all to the Main Output, and ran them into the Kicker DSP amp. The LC6i can drive up to 9.5V, but that clips a bit, so after tweaking it, now we've got a VERY complete signal with the ability to tweak high, mid, and full PRIOR to the amp, and then the DSP on the amp gives it a solid curve, and tons of clarity and volume.


When I did the amp setup, I purposely clipped one wire for the center, and one wire each for the surrounds to pull them out of the equation when doing DSP (didn't want them playing pink noise).


The result sounds amazing, super clear, and I got my tones back. I went ahead an reconnected the surrounds and center to fill the car out, and I like the stage that way. The fronts are so much louder anyhow, it's really just background.


Your harness made things quite a bit easier.
