• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My nav system does not seem to find the shortest most direct routes. I was driving from Binghamton to Plattsburgh NY. Easy route I88 to I90 to I87. The system wanted me to go thru Mass and Vermont to get there....100s of miles out of the way. I tried it a couple of times. All my avoidances are turned off. Then once I was north of Albany NY, I retried the navigation and then it directed me directly north on I87 as it should, but it was estimating my arrival time would take 10 hours for a 2.5 hour drive?? Go figure. Even the early GPS's did a much better job.
Anybody else have these issues? Possible fixes?
thanks

The nav system is an incompetent train wreck I have similar stories. I doubt that it will ever be fixed.

Yeah no fix i know of. I have had some stuff like that happen as well..usually i run waze as well.. just to keep my telly on honest mode! No u should not have to do that but it happens..when i first got mines the gps used to be much better seeing traffic jams ahead before i see them and directing me out of harms way, now not so much, hopefully onenday it may get better, but i wouldn't hold my breathe!

What little I've used my nav system, it's been alright. Albeit mostly local. When migrating up north for the summer, I've always been bemused about the different paths that Google Maps will route you VS: Waze. Albeit both are part of the same company.

I'm aware of some of the "weighting factors" (Fuel consumption, toll roads etc.) however when Google Maps wants me to take a route that is 2 minutes longer than the Waze choice (same tolls) I am confused about the choosing criteria.

BMW Nav was also a trainwreck. Something to keep in mind; Phone Apps update just about monthly. Whereas car apps take quite some time if/when one does arrive. Project your phone's Nav system onto the vehicle, all of them.

Rant: Now my wife's Toyota is out of the grace period. Every effing time we start the car, there's an ad. Purchase the navigation upgrade now. AND it NO longer works. Effers....

Wow!

My navigation system is a mess. After entering an address in Sedona, it took me to an address 30 minutes away in another town. Then, when leaving Sedona and having entered Sky Harbor International Airport - it took me to a hotel just outside of Sedona and said I'd arrived at my destination! What a disaster.

Agreed that your system did you wrong. However, they all do it. My Google Maps, on my phone also wigs out.
Twice in a rural area of Ontario Canada, just across the river. Going from Kingston to a Maple Syrup producer. Both times (2nd. time I was wise) it wanted me to take a 22Km loop, just to come back to the road I was on.

Contacted Kia and they did admit they are aware of the problem with the nav system. Said there should be an update coming end of Dec or Jan to fix this issue. Let's hope so..............

II have a 2020 and my warranty expired. Since then my gps does not work like it used to. Im working on map updates but nothing yet and the garage doesn’t want to touch it.

I had an update on Monday that seemed to have fixed the navigation weirdness, at least for one 300 mile trip. Instead of routing me the longest way to get home it actually sent me the most direct route. What do you know!!
