• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Would like to tow my 3500lb. travel trailer with a 2023 Telluride EX X-Line we may purchase. It has the trailer harness a sway system. Is the harness a 4 or 7 pin cable? I need the 7 for my trailer brakes. Would like to ask several questions about what else do I need besides a receiver unit. Sorry if I'm in the wrong section.

The harness has a 7 pin connector. The trick is that it's not installed, and you (or your hitch installer) will need to buy it from a dealer... Do a search for towing in this forum. There are several threads going back years about the needed hardware for towing.

Edit: If I re-read your post correctly, the truck you are looking at already has a harness. In that case, if it is the harness supplied by Hyundai, then it should be a 7 pin connector. If it's a 3rd party, then you will have to look (and it's not the Hyundai harness, you will probably need to manually turn off the rear sensors to backup!).

Thank you Merlin. I was told that a vehicle with a tow harness also has a small harness to connect a brake controller under the dashboard. It may be in spare tire well, back storage compartment or glove box.

Yes, the harness kit came with the brake controller wiring. I don't have trailers with brakes, so it wasn't an issue for me and I know virtually nothing about it!
