• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Wasn't sure where to put this one. I got into my 2023 telluride after lunch yesterday and the car showed that it was beyond out of gas, not range nothing. So I immediately found a gas station on my route ($2/gallon more than I should have been paying :-( ) and put in 4.5 gallons to get me back to where I could then fill it up more affordably. when I started it back up it showed a full tank. So was obviously not empty. I have never had this or any car show that I was empty when I was not. Is this something that I need to get checked out? A fluke?

I don't know if this helps, but I occasionally had a similar problem with my prior car. The gas gauge would show the tank as near empty, but when I went to fill it up, it would only take 5 or 6 gallons. It basically was a sticky fuel level gauge in the tank. I would then add a can of SeaFoam motor treatment before filling it up and that always cleaned up whatever gunk was causing the gauge to stick within 100 miles of driving. I ran into it every couple of years. The fuel level sending unit is inside the fuel tank and is a physical lever with a float. I'm lazy and always start off with trying the simplest solution, especially if it can't hurt.

I also found a TSB that might help. ELE328 - CLUSTER SOFTWARE LOGIC IMPROVEMENT FOR LOWER THAN ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL INDICATION - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the software on the instrument cluster ‘CLU’ on some 2023-2024MY Telluride (ON) vehicles equipped with a 12.3” in. TFT display, produced from September 15, 2022 through July 18, 2023, which may intermittently show a lower fuel level than what is actually remaining in the vehicle upon starting the engine after refueling.
