So after a couple of nice long drives (10+ hours RT), here are my observations about my 27 SXP-X.

The ride quality EASILY surpasses my 2019 SXP, which I raved about on this very forum some years ago. The driver convenience features made both trips a breeze. Driver seat massage felt great, specifically for me when I went to Lumbar, one of three different massage modes.

The radar cruise and self driving performed flawlessly but I had to get used to the auto lane change capability. When in full-on drive/cruise, if you give your turn signal a light tap to indicate a lane change, the car automatically and with intent changes lanes and self aligns with the new lane, basically hands free. The SXP-X does not drive hands-free but almost. You get warned if your hands leave the wheel for any more than about 5 seconds, and the steering column pupil-tracker holds you accountable to keeping your eyes forward.

Also getting used to the camera-based rear view mirror, which is a nice lux upgrade. However, it does crazy things to headlights of trailing vehicles as they approach. I’m thinking because of the difference in strobe frequency between the camera itself and the headlight LEDs.

The screen menu interaction is easy and friendly and I basically left it in CarPlay most of the time. The HUD is clear and is as full of content as you want to make it. I used the HUD a lot and it’s basically second nature now. I’m 6’1” with a long torso, and I appreciate the ability to adjust the HUD position so I could easily see it.

I received my share of complimentary comments at the various stops. “What is that?” “Awesome front grill!” And “That’s a gorgeous color!”

I drove almost every mile during those trips in ECO, one of the four drive modes, and turned about 24.5 MPG. Pretty pleased with that too.

One tip for those affected. Go to Vehicle Settings and set your disappearing door handles to deploy each time you put it in Park. Otherwise, people can’t just climb in when you swing by to pick them up with the engine running. They have to wait for you to fumble around to Unlock the vehicle.

Congrats & good luck with the 27..
.

The door handle thing is interesting. They seem like another thing to go wrong over time (compared to the previous traditional style which really has very little to be concerned about). It seems like a problem waiting to happen. Grime/debris will inevitably get trapped in the mechanism and bind them up over time (and then there is the motor which extends/retracts the handle). The "issue" you mentioned about the handles not extending is no different than the previous gen as if the doors are locked, you have to unlock anyway to let someone in (picking up kids at school for example).

I am completely anal about keeping my cars spotless. I make sure those door handles are clean every time I look at em. I’ve already adjusted my settings to deploy all 4 handles when in Park so that’s easy enough. The one thing I’m still getting used to that I’ve never experienced before is the transmission shifter on the steering wheel stem. Push the end button for Park, turn the end cap toward the front of the car for Drive, rotate it back toward you for Reverse.

Yeah, that was another reason I went for a 25. I prefer a traditional shifter in the center of the console. No button shifters, no column mounted shifters, no dash mounted shifters. I understand why they are doing it(to give more open space in the center console, but it just isn't as natural to me. 40 yrs of manual and traditional automatic center console placement has me trained that way. No need to reinvent the wheel. Same for the door handles.

I love the new lines, the front end, the wheels, everything about the redesigned 27. I can put up with all the new bells and whistles. I also think the ride is greatly improved over my 2019.

I have not driven a 27, but it's hard to believe the ride is significantly better than my 25 which I think is pretty darn good.

Agreed!
I have the '27 x-pro and the ride is definitely much better! I was on the expressway today and the wind just kept pushing me around so I switched it to sport mode.. o wow! She stood straight and did not give anymore! And she got on down the road!! The more n more I drive it the more and more I see all the improvements..also quiet!

I just saw a Reddit thread about a 27 Telly hybrid which is getting an engine replacement with only 250 miles on the clock. Can't believe they wouldn't just replace the car. I certainly wouldn't be interested in having my engine swapped out at a dealer on a brand new car....

One of the many reasons I didn’t seek out the hybrid version.

I could be wrong but the Mfg. decides how they meet warranty obligations. If the owner has a lemon law case, that would be different..

Apparently the 2.5T is the issue in the one on Reddit. I figured that motor was pretty well sorted by now. Maybe it's just a random event...

I think you are correct, but it's not a great way to handle a 250 mile engine failure. That would warrant a new car in my book.

The new Telluride 2027 is a setback for KIA. It's an ugly copy of a Range Rover and the interiors choices are horrible and the door system will lock in the car if not careful! I'm keeping my 2025 Telluride, even if they gave me a 27 for free! No Way. A big mistake!

I love it. You hate it. That’s why they make menus. Freedom of choice!

We looked at the new 2027 today and really liked it. The X-Line is well appointed. The interior space is good. Our Kia dealer has a new 2025 and the 2027’s. The 2025 is only $2K less than the 2027 X-Line because it was a top of the line trim.

I was done with the 2027 Telluride the minute I read about the “steering column pupil tracker.” When it’s time to replace my 2022, I guess I’ll be headed elsewhere.

Nearly every new vehicle has one of those now. You’ll see them when you start looking around. It’s a safety feature that enables the auto drive mode. I have to be honest, it did its job a few weeks ago when I was on a long drive across east Texas.
