Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

Hi I had the same issue happen to me and my wife , I filed a complain to kia corporate. Complains like this one will effect the dealership over all status with kia .

I am calling corporate today to complain. Last time I tried emailing and they didn’t respond for 2 months.

We can help. We are shipping quite a few to Texas. All because of what you just mentioned. If we can help please email me.
Shipping any to San Francisco Bay Area CA?

I’ve had the same problem here in the DFW area. Im looking for an S model but all dealerships are marking up by 5k and adding on other fees. Ima try one more time with another dealer and if that doesn’t work then ima give up on this vehicle.
If Jason and not help you here in DFW area, I got mine at Huffines in McKinney. ask for Kevin great place and true to their word.

Add Citrus Kia in Ontario, California to the list of bad dealer experiences (exactly contrary to this purchase: Ordered EX AWD. Black on Black )

We have a Kia on order locally in San Diego and my wife saw that Citrus had the one we were looking for in-stock - Citrus Kia is 2 hours north of us. Their website advertises a $4k markup over sticker with no details and so I was suspicious from the start as the window sticker only showed carpeted floormats as an option. My wife called this morning, they said it was in-stock but they would not confirm price over the phone but led her to believe that negotiation was possible. When she asked to have a pic of the actual window sticker (looking for dealer adds and additional markup), they sent a pic of the screen only which obviously only shows MSRP, no options or markup.

When she asked for a pic of the sticker from the actual vehicle, they left off the part that discloses the additional add-ons and markup and simply kept trying to get her to drive hours to the dealership.

So then I called, talked to their 'fleet' department, got the same story but drilled for a few minutes on dealer options until they fessed up that it had edge guards and the internal protectant added for an additional $2k plus another $2k because of 'high demand'. I offered to drive up and pay cash if they'd let it go for MSRP (not the additional $4k) - of course they were not interested... at least I got this answer finally over the phone after the misleading interaction previously.

I'm not going to shame a dealer for deciding to markup their vehicles when supply is short (though I think it's shady and shows what kind of dealership they really are), but flat out misleading a prospective customer into believing that the price could be MSRP vs $4k is downright wrong in my opinion, especially when you're trying to lure someone into driving hours to purchase it - Non-commission or not, my experience was very poor.

I had a bad experience with Ferguson Kia in Broke Arrow Oklahoma on ordering my new Telluride. After 8 weeks of waiting I was told my order was fulfilled but was not allocated to me and that it would be roughly December before I received my car that I ordered on July 25th. They lacked communication all along the way. The only way I would get news is by calling every 3 weeks to check in. And when I did call I would get redirected multiple times. They wouldn't have told me about the issue I'm afraid if I hadn't called, the last time I called they said oh we have been meaning to call you. I believe they never even placed my order as well because the same day I went and got my down payment back I got a message asking about the model I ordered and specs. They should have had this info on file already which shows me I wasted 8 weeks waiting when a vehicle wasn't even ordered. I will not be doing any business at all there in the future. I did find one the same day though 12 hours away at Jake Sweeney Kia in Florence Kentucky. They were amazing and worked with me so far away in getting my White SX P with Dune brown and self leveling for Costco pricing plus rebates. I wrote about them in the good buy section of this forum. I was very impressed with Joe and Dontae at Jake Sweeney!

Pokes to be honest the 5 month wait the dealer quoted you is not out of the realm of possibility. My SX ordered on May 20th is just now arriving at my dealership (have the vin and shows up on inventory). It will be right at about 5 months for me, over 150 days.

The Ferguson dealer told me 6-8 weeks not 5. And reading the post on here I understand long waits. But when I called at week 6 they told me on the phone they could see it went to the line to be built the last week of August and when it reaches that stage it takes about 3 weeks for it to arrive. So naturally when I called back and was told it was allocated and it would be December that was shady stuff. And then to contact me after getting my deposit back asking what model I ordered and specs goes to show me that they didn’t even order it back in July. Was not griping about the wait at all.

FYI Knoxville, TN KIA dealer selling loaded SX for $56,899. 8K OVER MSRP.
I tried to negotiate a lease deal with them and they gave me $864 per month. Using KIA web site calculator is should be approximately $580. per month. The will sell EX for MSRP but will not let any SX go for MSRP. PLEASE DON'T PAY THESE EXORBITANT PRICES! Anyway, my two cents.

The Kia lease calculator will always be a bit low... as it excludes taxes and fees - but $864 would be OUTRAGEOUS! The unmitigated gall...

Was that an SXP?

So I did another check online for any SXPs available. These dealers who list stock pics for vehicles they don't have on the lot are ridiculous. I wish they would state up front available as order only. Sure would save a lot of time.

I saw a black copper/dune listed at a Salt Lake dealer. Even though we have an SXP on order elsewhere, I thought if we could find one sooner we would pull the trigger now.

They responded that we could order and receive in 14 weeks. That's 3.5 months when our local dealer and everone else we talk to, says 5 months.

SXPs are apparently still taking a lot longer, from 4-5 months. At least that is what I was told recently. Normally (non Prestige) 3-4 months. But this may all be smoke and mirrors at this point...

Bait and switch.

Bait and switch.

Many dealers listed on third-party sites like cars.com, cargurus.com, or sometimes even their own website show inventory - but much of this is pre-sold or they are keeping it listed just to drive phone traffic. Cargurus is good because it can tell you how long a listing has been on the site - if it's been on there a number of months then you know it's not a real listing. I had that same frustration early on. I just gave up to save the headache and waited on my order. In your case, probably best to just wait... The Kia.com inventory doesn't seem complete - but it has been more correct. You just don't know which is unsold inventory.
