• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I really keep going back and forth about which trim I want to purchase. I started at the SX (non prestige), then moved to thinking I would order and EX with captain chairs once that option came available- but now I honestly can’t get past the savings that comes with the S. The S trim seems like such a good value. If you own it, do you love it? Is there anything you feel like you are really missing out on? Would love to hear any opinions. Thanks!

Here's one thread asking the same question.

All depends on what you are looking for. The price difference is substantial, but you are getting a lot more in the SX.

We have the S FWD model and are very happy with it. With just under 7K miles, it has been problem free other than 2 windshield replacements. Mechanically, it’s a very nice vehicle. Wife and I are Boomers and for us, the S model has enough features. Didn’t need the leather upholstery, 2nd row seat beach, dual climate control or power passenger seat among other Bells/whistles found in the upper levels PLUS we liked the mid 35K price point. Think we’ve found a vehicle we can hang on to for quite some time...we’re very pleased with our S.

If you don't care for bench seats then get the SX. It has a lot of features that they don't list anywhere...for example

- upgraded "metal" brake/accelerator pedals
- automatic mirror tilt on reverse
- third row reading light
- metal door sill plate (not 100% sure, but I recall seeing picture of it)
- Since I own the EX I may have missed other unadvertised upgrades with the SX

and then there are advertised options (over the EX)
-Garage door mirrors
-blind spot cameras
-upgraded headliner
-2nd row heating/cooling seats
-black wheels
-2nd row sunroof
-100% LED light system
-Video Dashboard over simple display
-and many more

Own the s model and love it

Own a SX and love it. S is a way better value. Both will make a happy owner

Love S trim...almost 6K driven and haven't had any issue so far..good value of money..

"2 Windshield replacements" for a brand new car????? That is plain ridiculous
I'm waiting on mine going on 3 months. To wait so long and pay almost 50 grand, hopefully there will not be any issues with that car.

This site on kiamedia.com is still the best place to compare all the trims and features.

Personally, I think the EX is a really great value given the upgrades... but for captain's chairs the S is an outstanding value if you can live with the (minor) limitations and don't need real leather. If you were deciding between SX and EX Premium (the new version with captains chair's and 20 in wheels) you might just go with SX for better headlights. The major disappointment in any trim other than SX is the headlights - but we are finding aftermarket solutions for these - see posts by @JonFar111.

I don’t like the way the taillights light up on my S, only half the lens lights up and the blinkers are in the bumper. On the EX and SX the whole lens lights up and blinkers are part of taillights. I was behind my wife one day while she was driving and she had her blinker on and I couldn’t even see it because it was below the hood of my car. I’m hoping someday somebody will come up with a module for it.

I have an S and am extremely happy with it. I could afford to buy an SXP, but the S and the EX are the best values. I really wanted the captains chairs and 20 inch wheels. My wife and I much prefer the brushed aluminum wheels versus black. The color is Pearl White. I rarely use a Nav system and have a Garmin for that. Leather is unimportant to me. It is a car, not my home theater system. The sound system in the S is just fine. The seats are comfortable and roomy. It is also the quitest vehicle I have owned. The EX is 8 person bench seat with 18 inch wheels, but more bells and whistles than the S, so the best value depends on what you want and need.
Changes made, I did the work, except for the window tinting:
LED headlights $90, LED mood lighting that changes with music $20, window tinting all around $450, 2 coats of ceramic quartz $250 total for the Porter Cable buffer and CarPro C.Quartz kit. The buffer will last a long time.
Changes I plan: LED lighting all around
Possible changes: Fog lights, the $65 Azdome rear view mirror forward and reverse camera combination.
Nowhere near the $8k price difference between the S and SXP and working on my Telluride is its own reward.

I bought the lights from Amazon. I did not use the 3m tape on the back of the LED strip lights for mounting. I used zip tie mounting squares and zip ties instead.

Only regret is on the model S is no power passenger seat. Has anyone attempted or succeeded in raising manual passenger seat? Has anyone tried to convert to a power seat or any aftermarket recommendations?

why 2 windshields?

Both windshields were hit with stones thrown up by semi trucks. From the letter we received some time back from Kia, it appears Kia realized the Telluride windshields were(are) inferior, hence the free replacement.
