Order to delivery time

Found the exact Telluride that I have ordered back in July. Called the dealership up in San Jose, CA and they are asking 60,000 for it! I understand all wheel drive and Prestige package but jesus. Then he is wanting me to lease it and that would bring it down $4000.

Sounds like a trap to me.

I have the same thing. Ordered and SXP AWD on Nov 1. Found the exact model, color, options in TX and the dealer wants and $8K "market adjustment". I'll wait a few more months and save the $$. Crazy what this car is doing to the market.

Wait a minute... how is that legal and if legal, how is it ethical on an order for to have them decide they aren't going to sell to you unless you now pay $60k? Did you have an order contract w/ a down payment? Did they just claim you never picked it up (yet never called you/contacted you to tell you), so now they've marketed the car and selling to the highest bidder?

The dealerships know they have a very coveted product so they are playing the who can make a customer pay the most game.

Was it from one of the "Southwest" dealerships? I've found what I want with them several times only to be told $8,000 to $10,000 "market adjustment". I just say nope, and hang up.

Sure was. I told him I already had the same car on order that is 15 hours closer to home for MSRP. He was nice, but wasn't going to budge off the price.

I was nice the first time I called about one. Was dumbfounded when they told me $10k and tried to find out why. The longer I talked, the madder I got and it didn't end well. I've called back regarding two others over the past 4 months. Last time I asked if it was available, then asked what the selling price was. When they came back with a price I said, "Oh, so you are still adding that ridiculous market adjustment." She said yes, so I said "Well I guess you still don't want to make a sale" and hung up.

The waiting sucks, but I'm not going to pay their asinine markup.

Yes, you don't want to ever fill out a credit app until after sales manager has signed off on the vehicle and you have an agreed price and have test driven. They will always try to get you to run credit first - mainly because many Kia customers have some credit challenges. I had a salesman call me to ask if I was really dead set on an SX because "once many people see the payments, they want something else." Ha. I guess their typical customer doesn't understand how to use an amortization calculator.

Ordered a Grey SX-P mid-august and was told it'll arrive around Christmas. Just took delivery of it two days ago with no markup. Victor Redd at Capitol Kia in San Jose, CA made it happen.

The easy fix for this order debacle is for Kia to send a confirmation email to the email used when entering a “sold order” and then update/send an email to the same email when VIN is created for that order.

Kia - hire an intern for $10/hr. to do this. The payback in brand equity will be 100X the expense...

Today is exactly 3 months since I placed my SXP AWD order, so I called up the dealership to check the status. After some blatant lies and denying, they eventually admitted my salesman, who doesn't work there anymore, didn't place my order then, so they had to make a new one today. I don't really know what to say or what to do at this point.

They're saying SXP AWD cancellation happens almost every week, so if I'm okay with any colors, they'll put me at the top of the wait list and find one for me within a month. Should I trust them? Or, should I just go to the Hyundai dealership next door and pay $2k markup to get a limited Palisade AWD instead? I can't really wait 5-6 months at this point as we have a 8 day family road trip planned in April.

Update: The shipping cost was a blocker for us, the cheapskate couple, so we decided to not take @StephenCantrelle's black/black SXP offer. @StephenCantrelle was really awesome though. Super kind and responsive. Feel so lucky to have him on this forum.

And.... as it turns out, my dealership is indeed trying to do right by me. They called me 10 minutes ago about a white/sand dune SXP in their lot right now and told me it'd be mine if I want. It's kinda fully loaded and has some more options than what we ordered, like premium exterior paint color, towing package, carpeted floor mat, and cargo cover, but I think we'll take it.

BTW, does anyone actually know how better the carpeted floor mat is than the stock one? I know what I'm getting for the towing package and the cargo cover option, but have no idea about the carpeted floor mat. And, this is probably their only telly in their lot, so I don't really have anything compare it to.
