In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello all,

We have a high mileage 2008 Highlander that's in need of replacement. We've looked at everything in the segment and the Telluride is the pretty obvious winner. We'll probably go for an SX without the prestige package and only tow prep as an option. A few questions if I may.

1) Is it at all possible to order a color combo that's not listed on kia.com? My wife would like the everlasting silver or black copper, but those are only available with the black interior. Any luck getting an order through with grey leather?

2) Are dealers negotiating on price at all? We're willing to order and wait, if that matters.

3) The tow package comes with self leveling suspension. Does it use air bags?

Thanks

Welcome,

1). No
2). rarely
3). No. It uses self adjusting shocks

Advice, get the Prestige package. Your wife will greatly appreciate it.

Good luck

Thanks. Which parts of the Prestige package specifically?

2) Contact Jason or Lucas at Kia of Muncie, they are selling at costco pricing + Kia rebates. They can ship it if you are too far away and still would probably get it cheaper than anyone else selling them. You can get ahold of Jason Fox on here as he is always on the forums lurking :)

The prestige gives you AWD, Head's up Display. Napa leather, heated and cooled second row captains chairs and a 110 volt outlet.

Thanks. Good info on Kia of Muncie.

According to the Kia site, AWD is independent of Prestige. I live in New England so that's a requirement. I'll let her decide.

She can get the color she prefers. The premium headliner plus Napa leather make for a very luxurious interior. The heads-up display is something that once you have it, you’ll likely never want to go without it again. My fie loves all of these on her Black copper telluride.

If you need AWD, the Prestige Package would only be an additional $2,000 for all of the features UCinn mentioned above. IMO, those additional items are well worth the $2,000 if that doesn't break your bank. I'd guess that many who opt not to go with the Prestige Package already did not want the AWD so adding the Prestige at that point would be a $4,000 option for something they really did not want to begin with. As you might have determined from Kia's build options, you can't get the Prestige without adding AWD.

This. We didn't want AWD. Also, we didn't like the upgraded headliner, so really it's all personal preference. I would have loved the HUD, though. I wish it was available separately.

This weekend, we test drove an EX Premium which had the non-nappa leather and I was perfectly fine with it. My wife liked it also.

We also sat in a fully loaded, top of the line Palisade. The alcantara headliner was nice as was the nappa leather.

We also sat in a Telluride SX a few weeks ago. It had the nappa leather, but not sure about the premium package. Kia's site does let you choose nappa leather without choosing premium.

If I read your post above correctly, I think you may be confusing the Premium and Prestige packages.

The "Premium" package is only available on the EX for those that want the captions chairs instead of the standard 2nd row bench seat. Kia added the Premium package as an option for the EX several months ago, likely due to a lot of demand for the captains chairs that were not an option for the EX when the vehicle was first released.

The "Prestige" package is only for the SX trim and includes the Nappa leather. You can't get an SX with Nappa leather without the full Prestige package as part of the build.

Sorry, yes. We test drove an EX Premium, sat in an SX Prestige (and the Palisade equivalent). Presumably the leather in the EX Premium is the same as the normal leather in an SX.

As for nappa leather, the site is confusing. If I mouse over espresso brown leather, it says "nappa leather". In other cases, when mousing over, it doesn't say "nappa", just "leather". So is there both espresso brown regular leather and espresso brown nappa? They do show two black leathers (one regular, one nappa).

It definitely lets me choose espresso nappa leather without choosing the Prestige package. It also forces the trim level to SX when I choose a nappa option, but only forces EX when I choose one of the regular leather options. Once I've chosen a nappa option and go to "select options, it still shows SX and lets me add Prestige, but doesn't force it.

If nappa requires the Prestige package (which admittedly does say it includes nappa), then the builder on the site is broken.

The build site is confusing, and it's a lot to explain. You aren't understanding it correctly either, but your not the first one. Work with a dealer to find your preferred options.

This site is helpful for features.

A few more notes:
Espresso interior option is a full brown - it is not Nappa leather. And it is only available on the SX (non prestige) on certain exterior colors (White, Moss, Black). Build site pictures of interior are wrong - everything including dash is brown.

The Dune, Black and Grey leathers have a Nappa option, and they are only available on SX Prestige. Black Copper is an SX only color, it can only be paired with Black regular leather if not Prestige. Black Copper can be paired with Dune Nappa or Black Nappa if Prestige is selected.

Everlasting Silver only comes with a black interior - non-Nappa for regular and Nappa for Prestige.

Gravity Grey can be paired with Grey Nappa on an SX Prestige or regular gray leather on SX.

I won't argue about the configurator - it's confusing. I'm just telling you what can be done.

I believe the leather is the same in the EX and the SX (non Prestige), or at least there is no mention of there being an upgrade in the seat material on Kia's build site between these two trims.

Kia has made some changes to the build part of their website over the past few months which has really made figuring out the available configurations and what options you have for each trim overly confusing. The available configurations were actually much easier to understand on Kia's website when the vehicle was first released. But currently, I don't see where mousing over the espresso circle says Nappa. It says "Espresso Brown Leather Seat Trim" when I just tried it which is the same leather as the Butterscotch, Gray and Black Leather Seat Trim options to the left of the three Nappa options. The Nappa leather is only available in Gray, Black and Dune Brown. So if you really want the Espresso, you can't get the Prestige package since the Nappa isn't available in that color.

And so if you select the Prestige package in the "Packages and Options" screen, but then pick the espresso option, it removes the Prestige upgrade from your build summary without telling you it did this. That's how its working for me right now, anyway.

My brain hurts....

This sheet (see post above the one linked for source) is also helpful to understand pricing and options.

Also, all possible colors for each trim level are listed at:

Down near middle where it says "Choose your Telluride". There are little circles of colors under the trim.

Thanks everyone. I think I see my issue.

As far as colors, I'm going to leave that to my wife to decide on.

After 31 years of marriage, I know that is the only correct answer!

I'm not sure if I set a record for initial order to delivery, but we finally picked up my wife's new Telluride yesterday. She got a moss/grey SX and the only option is the hitch receiver. She loves it.

We initially placed an order in Feb of 2020 which we then cancelled when we thought the world was imploding. We also both went to full time WFH so had less need for a car and also figured demand would drop. We definitely called it wrong on demand but placed another order in Feb 2021. The one we ordered still hasn't shown up but the dealer said the moss/grey one freed up and they offered it to us, so we took it.

And just to temper the excitement, when we got it home I noticed the tire pressure was too high in all the tires except for one. That one was 10lbs low and had a nail in it.
