If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Kia of Muncie did a great job of selling me on Telluride and their dealership. The Costco discount did not hurt their cause.

It’s been approximately 3 months since I ordered. I currently sit 23rd in line for a SXP at a dealership that is only allocated 1 or 2 SXP’s per month. If Kia doesn’t change their system, or I get extremely lucky, I’m most certainly looking at another year of waiting.

The Kia allocation system sucks.

I refuse to spend hours going through the spreadsheets and calling dealerships to see if allocated cars are available for a reasonable price.
I guess I’ll keep my order, maybe Kia will unscrew the pooch. Otherwise I think I’ll go check out the 2021 BMW’s, etc and if I find what I want Kia loses another customer for life.

You've highlighted a major issue with vehicle manufacturer distribution methods. Kia sends a ton of SXPs to their top selling dealerships as unsold allocations (to be marked up), and those with orders are left to wait and are at the mercy of "the mother ship". You are right, your order may take a long time to be fulfilled. I would place a second order with a higher volume dealership and see which comes first. But, now you're looking at a 5-6 month wait with a new order.

Quite a few members have found their desired vehicle using the Telluride lookup site and the spreadsheet with production statistics. It may take some time. But, you won't be getting a Costco discount.

Lucky spreadsheet lurker here. It doesn't take hours, honestly. I used the "Contact Us" form on the website of likely dealerships and copy/pasted the same message, only changing the VIN of the vehicle they were receiving. Depending on how specific your requirements are, there might not even be very many on your list to contact. I contacted two and ended up purchasing from one of them.

Definitely lucky, I'm not giving in yet. I am pretty much doing the same and following up w/ calls and texts, etc... Who knows I may get lucky but it's been somewhat a PITA. I've broadened my search dramatically in terms of colors/options.

It probably helps that I wasn't going for Prestige either.

Can you advise how we, the consumer, find out which are the top selling dealerships?

I think a difference with Kia of Muncie is that they are upfront about ordering with them. And you can trust that they dotted the Is and crossed the Ts.

If a buyer can't wait, then the buyer needs to do some legwork in finding unallocated models. The tools available through this forum are fantastic. If you want a discount, then you'll have to hunt one down or go with Kia of Muncie, but wait. There are tradeoffs here. I got one without really waiting. It had everything we wanted. But it also had $700 or so of factory accessories I would not have asked for in an order (illuminated scuff plates and interior lighting). I could have "saved" that money, but I made a choice to pay for those factory options in order to get what was otherwise the vehicle we wanted. I was lucky that they knocked a lot off of MSPR, didn't have to deal with the price increase, and got the financing rebate. So it was easier to accept paying for those options.

Also refer to MichelW sheets that go out further than just this year.

both tools are great to track down high volume dealers

How do the illuminated scuff plates look? How much off MSRP did the dealership give you?

They look great but wasn't something that I would normally pay for. And they're only in the front. I don't have pictures of them on me but they're in a link on the forum. $1400 off plus no price increase that I would have had if I ordered ($675 saved I believe), and $1000 financing rebate.

Yeah, when you go to the page, click on "Cars" at the upper left. When that page loads, at the bottom of the table it tells you when it last pulled data, how many it got in that scrape, and how many have been added in the last 24 hours

When you see the 'created date' is that the date the VIN was created, right? Not the record creation?

No, when record was created. But, since it's scraping every few minutes, they are assumed to be similar. There could be discrepancies.
