Order to delivery time

You should hopefully get your allocation then next week when the next batch comes out through KFOS. For some reason Kia corporate decided to give Muncie some extra allocations outside KFOS and mine was one of them. I think you should be first on the list now?
Perhaps I benefited from Muncie's extra allocation too. I put a deposit for a SXP build identical to NREVANS' just before Halloween. Zach at Muncie just notified me that my order was accepted. That news brightened my day, especially after listening to the dismal stock market news on CNBC all morning.

October 21 - Moss Green/Dune AWD SXP with Muncie...hoping this all means that I'll be hearing soon!

I agree, if an order was placed from 2019 that the manufacturer was unable to fill until 2020 or 2021 that’s on them. A deposit was taken and an agreement drawn up and given to the customer based on figures the dealership provided. By right in the eyes of the law it could be viewed and considered as a contractual agreement, especially for those dealership who refuse to refund deposits. The customer shouldn’t be responsible for paying an inflated price even if there getting a newer year car. The manufacture was unable to meet demands on orders placed and accepted tangible cash for those orders knowing they had an excessive back log that was abnormal for the industry. There’re people still waiting on back orders from 2019 and were already 3 months into the new year.

Unfortunately, you will be paying the new price - a total of $675 for SX-P as we've discussed on the forum. The price is set once production is planned... and for a Nov order, it still hasn't been allocated. Any contract would leave a provision for manufacturer to increase price - it is also grounds for getting a deposit back for those that have non-refundable deposit. This is because the car hasn't actually been ordered until it is picked up from Kia via KFOS or outside that system.

My dealer when I ordered (2/8/20) explicitly told me that the MSRP may be a little different when I get delivery vs what was on the order confirmation I was holding in my hand at the time. Did not say what the causes would be, just that we're talking likely a few hundred one way or other, not the thousands I automatically assumed it would be after he said that (at the time I still couldn't believe I found a dealer that wasn't going to charge me the 'market adjustment' upcharge). I assume this was to cover his ass on these kinds of increases from the manufacturer that may happen in the interim.

Long story short: per my dealer it seems like you pay the price that is the MSRP at the time the car is actually built and sold. Not what it was 6-8 months ago when you ordered.

This is huge news for Muncie. Any guys on this site from KIA Muncie confirm how many extra allocations they received? Maybe this is a sign that KIA is finally going to start targeting some of these long backlogs of orders and work to clear them instead of sending allocations to dealerships that are holding cars with huge mark ups in inventory. KIA needs to do more of this. Focus on the backlog until the average is just 2-3 months. These 6-8 month backlog times are just crazy. Speaks as much to poor order management as it does product demand.

Also, ETA as it stands is April 19th. If that date stands (which I fully expect it to change) it will be 32 weeks from my order date. 218 days if I did my math right. :)

Wow! I'll be 133 days if my ETA sticks with April 9th. 19 Weeks or so.

Whine time... Updated ETA now is the 17th, last notice was for tomorrow <sigh>, and the wait continues... Still better than the original date of the 21st.

Ordered SX P, dark moss 12/31/19, VIN 5XYP5DHC9LG085828 , delivery expected 3/23/2020.
Damn nice. Month after me and getting it before me.

It really makes me mad that so many people are still waiting like crazy.

Basically seven months after all the gnashing of teeth. Pretty much one month late. No big deal.

Hey, the S&P futures are up 2% right now...things really are looking up!

I was just in the dealership a couple of days ago and figured I would have another 4 months to wait. The next day I received a call that my new car would be delivered in 2 weeks and was sent the window sticker.

True that! Perhaps this implies that the quick market losses may fairly quickly be recovered too. Dare to dream...

My ETA from yesterday afternoon of 19 April has now moved to 1 April. Will keep updating as I get information so you Muncie customers might have some semblance of an idea of the timeline.

Finally got our SXP - Dark Moss / Dune / Tow / Interior Light / Scuff Plates / Rear bumper protection / Mud guards....
  • Nov 29 - Ordered it from CityKIA in Orlando (great help from "non-pushy" sales rep, Jaime Baca). Agreed at MSRP. Initially told 8-10 weeks.
  • Dec-Feb - Frequent communication (every 2 weeks) with sales rep and GM, sending them links to build info/stats from this forum (the awesome xls and lookup tool). It helped them too and showed I knew what happened/status, minimizing the risk being played.
  • Jan 27 - Was told by GM it was built as we spoke (not sure if that was correct info)
  • Feb 26 - VIN created/showed up. Price had gone up $675 due to KIAs Jan increase :(
  • Mar 4 - Car arrived to dealer in the afternoon. Someone saw it online and went to the dealer offering way over MSRP to get it instead of me, but CityKIA honored my order.
  • Mar 5 - Picked up my new beautiful SXP after work. Everything went smooth, paper work took about 3h and no tries for markup or adjustments of my trade in etc. Was missing Cargo mats and Cargo net, but learned KIAs system can only handle 6 options! and I ordered 8. But they wrote it on the order as text, and they will ship to me soonest it arrive at no cost.
Summary, very happy and love my new Telluride!!

Was told CityKIA now have decided not to sell new orders at MSRP (much due they learned how much extra they can markup currently)

Any pictures of the lighted scuff plates? I ordered these on mine and there are very few pictures of them installed.

Thanks. Beautiful ride by the way.

This is starting to have the makings of a bad April Fool’s joke!
