• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anybody else in a similar dilemma? I've read/watched every review and did a couple of test drives so i'm now deadset on getting a Telluride. I've never ordered a brand new vehicle before and figured ordering a new one vs buying off the lot doesn't allow much price negotiation? so I don't see much savings vs waiting a few months and ordering a 2021 and paying full price as well?

I figure the 2021 model will likely include fixes for any of the issues seen/reported in the 2020 model as well as maybe a few newly added features most current owners complained about not having?

Any advice is welcomed!

KIA has been addressing issues now for over a year. I wouldn't worry to much about that. But as far as extra features - the biggest complaint is the missing remote start button on the key fob...which I suspect the 2021 will have. The color options will probably change as well. Depending on the dealership and their current backlog...you might be getting a 2021 no matter what.

I appreciate the response, I asked my salesman about the lack of auto-start from the keyfob and she told me it's only $200 to add it from the dealer (they outsource it)

Yeah, they prob. give you a 2nd keyfob that only handles remote start. That was cool back in the 90s with extra alarm systems, but I guess it's better than an app that works maybe 1/4 of the time at best.

I placed an order for an SX Prestige yesterday and the dealer verified it would be a 2021. Kia isn't taking orders for 2020s anymore.

At this point with how bad things are going, if you have the means... I'd just go find one you like and start the bidding low (think invoice pricing). You're going to see many pop up on lots and people that have backed out on orders.

No, the iDatastart HCX will let the factory remote start the Telly when the lock button is pressed 3 times. I was also quoted $200 to have it installed by the same guy who posted this:

This is very slick integration. @StephenCantrelle does your dealership offer this type of install on new vehicles?

Well then I stand corrected. That's pretty awesome!

Yeah - I almost like that better than the button on the back side that the Seltos has.

I can confirm this. I had an order with a dealership placed back in January. I was informed today that I am #1 in line for next months allocation for an SXP...and it will be a 2021. The order books for 2020 are now closed.

Now to wait to see the colors, specs and changes for the 2021's...and of course the price increase.

Here is my wish list:
- Full Digital Dash on the Prestige Trim
- Keyless Start on the Fob
- New KIA Badge design

Now we wait!

If the books are closed on 2020 model orders and mid-April allocations/KFOS order entries are going to be for the 2021 model, won’t Kia have to announce the 2021 model before/by mid-April so the customer and dealer know what to order (trim levels, colors, packages, etc)?

The New York Auto Show was going to start on April 10th. I suspect that KIA was planning on announcing the new Sorento in New York and then announce the details on the still very hot Telluride at the same time. So yes - I suspect Dealers will get the information early next month. They will need the information before allocations/KFOS order entries are entered next month.

Oh...I thought of one more thing I would love to see on the 2021 Telluride - the steering wheel from the Sorento. Since the current Sorento and Telluride share the same steering wheel - makes sense that the 2021 models would share the same steering wheel.

Hey Stephen, looks like I'm buying a Telly from you guys this week. Moss Green/Black Prestige. Maybe I'll see you at the dealershp...from a distance. :)
