• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi All,

Been in the market for a while now for a Telluride. Bought one last April but took so long to deliver I ended up getting my deposit back. I'm from Ontario and have been in contact with one of the dealerships. They told me today that they finally received specs for the Canadian model.

Below is his email. Looks like Canada is getting shafted once again. Anyone else have any other info?

Specs just got announced (EX, SX and SX Limited Nappa) with no changes to content/features. There are a couple new colour options. Pricing to follow once confirmed.

No Black-out model yet, but my rep says it is still a rumour around the head office. Likely not right away though.

Hope Canada isn't getting shafted. I'm on West Coast and in similar boat. Highly interested in a Telluride, would really prefer the 2021 model based on what I've read here in terms of improvements for year two. I'm guessing most dealers have no clue what they are talking about (not all their fault - probably so much up in the air currently). My dealer couldn't even get their act together on arranging a proper test drive last week, so I wouldn't trust much of what they tell me until the dust settles.

Yeah, doesn't make much sense that Canadian models wouldn't match the US specs since they are built at same location in US. But, would have to see the specs from Canada to confirm. Lots of dealers BS their way through Customer Inquires to encourage folks to buy now. "No changes for next year, so buy this one we have!"

He's not actually trying to sell me either or. They had some 2020 SX Limited with Napa that I was interested in which they sold. He isn't getting anymore 2020 models and is simply letting me know what he knows about the 2021. The Canadian model in 2020 was different from the USA version. Different rims, not all colours available for interior / exterior - so im not surprised the specs don't match again. But it does suck.

Yeah, it does. That is odd... but yes, entirely plausible.

If they only did this to them... Its the dealership making these changes afterall. This is what im asking the dealer to do for me once I decide on the model.

So I have the spec sheet for the 2021 Telluride from the dealer today. Basically the Canadian version stays the same. Only things changing is addition of Black Copper and White colour change from Snow White Pearl to Glacial White Pearl. Also there is no mention of a remote starter. It does still mention the UVO app for remote start. Rims are the same as well. The are scrapping the SX Limited model as that was just a fill in for the SX Limited with Nappa because of the shortage. So the 3 options will be EX, SX and SX Limited w/Nappa

I have the PDF file but it has his name and dealer watermark on it so not sure if i can post it or not.

Thx for sharing - that's unfortunate. Not sure why Canada doesn't get any similar changes when the vehicle comes from the same factory. Seems inefficient to me but there's likely more to the reasoning. The lack of interior colour option combos bothers me as well. Would prefer something other than black interior, but choices are more limited through the line. Thought I had my next vehicle picked, but the lack of dealership engagement combined with this 2021 info means I'm back to the drawing board...

It’s just because of demand. USA sells way more cars than Canada, so they don’t offer all of the different options. Kind of the same reason why USA has a million more cereal flavours than Canada lol.

Funny thing is though, they don’t even mentioned the updated arm rests for the captains chairs. I don’t see why they wouldn’t do that. Unless they have thousands of left over from 2020?

But if the vehicles are produced in the same factory, isn't it more efficient for them to produce all models (Canada/US) with the same specs? Same parts, same production line setup etc. Less colour options and less adjustments for 2021 makes it sound like a second class vehicle put together with the leftovers (even though I know it's still really nice). Maybe that's it though, the switch in production to 2021 has meant there's a ton of 2020 pieces left over and they are utilizing all those for the 2021 builds for Canada to limit waste. That I could at least understand.

Hey guys, so based on the information you guys have discussed above, would buying a brand new 2021 be better or a 2020 model if you can find it. Secondly, if the states seem to have a better version, is it cost efficient to buy in the states with the currency conversation and whatnot?

Not sure about the USA version, but if you don't need the Copper Black colour, then there is zero difference between 2020 and 2021. Dealer told me if you are willing to wait, the black edition may come out later in the year - but just a rumor based on what his rep told him. Had I known this, the dealer had a 2020 White SXL Limited with Nappa but he sold it. I wish i had bought that one as he was giving me a pretty good deal on it (blackout package and side steps). hopefully he gives me the same deal on the 2021 when he can order it.

It would be nice to see what the Copper Black looks like up close but I don't see that being enough to sway me to a 2021 if that is the only difference. I like that Moss Green to be honest. I am torn between the SX and SX limited.. I have never driven with an HUD before but I heard it is a really nice feature. The other factor of the limited that I like is the LED taillights but not sure if those two features are worth the 3-4K difference.

Here is another screenshot. Has the SX and SX Limited features.. as you can see nothing different and exact same rims

I guess it's just a matter of finding a 2020 that fits my preferences. May be harder now that it looks like the 2021's may be months away and car lots may stop ordering in the 2020's. That being said, maybe when the 21's are offically out, the 20's will drop even more in price. May have to get the tie rod ends and reallignment done on my 08' Santa Fe to get me by while I wait.... oh the dilemma !!! lol :-(

I can't believe KIa Canada is not adopting the 20" black wheel like the US . When I was hotly pursuing purchasing a Telly last year and couldnt get the black wheel I contacted the VP Marketing here and got some BS response about lack of wheel supply to meet the need for the CDN market , it would streamline production to reduce wheel options between the 2 countries ............................

the dealer just called, they received a letter from Kia Canada last week. it says that I will receive the car 2021 ( ordered 2020 on 24 april).
THE PRICE WILL NOT BE CHANGED, AS FOR ALL ACCEPTED AND CONFIRMED ORDERS KIA CANADA WILL COVER THE INCREASE OF THE PRICE.

Very, very hard to capture the true picture of what black copper looks like , but this is close (just out of the car wash).....and, HUD and LED features are very nice. Once you are used to 'em you don't want to give 'em up!! 😎

Thank you for taking the time to post. My wife is not going to thank you for making me spend more money on the updated package though LOL
