  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Order to delivery time

I am a first time SUV buyer as with COVID we are moving and need a 3 row SUV (two car chairs). Had planned to get a Highlander and then did research and learned about this excellent Telluride. Like the moss green with a dark grey interior (although brown can work as well). Called a bunch of dealers and couldn't seem to find the car. One suggested I special order it, and can get it in 2 months. Is this true, and would this be the 2021 model? I was thinking SXP in Dark Moss and either grey/brown interior + AWD.

It does not sound like I can get this car when I need it (now). But what should a wait be from here, as we are re-opening? Appreciate the advice.
We are waiting to be able to put orders in. When we are allowed to enter orders again it will be for 2021’s. If you are looking for an SX Prestige then that is the longest wait time. Many factors determine wait time and it varies dealer to dealer. But a realistic general wait time for a SXP can be anywhere from 4-8 months. (4 at this time if planets align perfectly). If you order at a Store that has a lot of orders ahead of you and they don’t earn many then wait times can get worst and go up to a year.

Bingo. Thank you.

yes, not even built yet. this is 6-10-20 And I ordered it 1-14-20....
I too am waiting that long. We ordered February 10 2020 and nothing. We have to ask dealer what is going too. They don’t reach out. We were told on Saturday that our order most likely won’t be filled until fall/winter or even spring. I am about ready to move on.

As much as I love the Telluride, I’m tempted to search elsewhere as well. The way most dealerships (I say most because not all are guilty of this) have handled this has been nothing short of embarrassing. They seem to have little to no clue what they’re doing and most are gouging potentially long-term customers for a short-term bump in revenue while acting like the customer should be lucky to even have the opportunity to purchase the vehicle. Many of the dealerships I called on the West Coast acted like I was buying a Lamborghini, going so far as to insinuate I wouldn’t pay over MSRP because I “couldn’t afford it” as opposed to the reality that I refuse to be price gouged on my daily driver.

Maybe if Kia overhauled the mentality of most of their dealerships the brand could have a future as a respectable car company, but with every day that passes and every horror story I read about on this forum, my opinion of Kia returns to the gutter of 10 years ago, when the brand was little more than a low-budget throwaway option.

Obviously still very appreciative for these guys who are breaking the mould and helping people find vehicles at fair prices. Unfortunately they are few and far between.

I ordered an SX-P on 3/18 from I-25 Kia At MSRP and was originally given a 5/23 ETA. COVID pushed that to 7/14. I was notified today that my 2020 SX-P was changed to a 2021 and as far as they know, my ETA remains 7/14. I-25 Kia has been great in keeping me informed, but I’m not holding my breath the July ETA will hold.

...Having an order show up right now is like winning The Price Is Right and having Bob Barker interview you on live TV. Come on down!!
@Jason Fox you are so right! We FINALLY got our VIN on 06/02 AND, I was a contestant on The Price is Right in 1979 and Bob Barker as the host! :)

Ordered SXP (custom order through the Costco Auto Program, not an allocated vehicle) on October 15th (that date is not a typo!!) and was prepared for the estimated 3-6 month wait... but still no car, no VIN, no ETA, no info. My salesperson emailed yesterday out of the blue a vague message (keeping with the theme of the past 8 months of vagueness) that "the factory has opened production and the dealership is getting more orders filled and will email car info soon". Last month I was told I was #9 on my dealership's waitlist of Tellurides ordered. I have been watching the website and last week 5 Tellys were manufactured for my dealership (IL072), after months of zero. What are the chances my Telly will be built? What are the chances my order will be cancelled? @StephenCantrelle @Jason Fox I think waiting since OCTOBER is wearing on me, and with so much talk of what will happen with the backlog of 2020/2021 switch over, I am feeling defeated & powerless over here. I am so worried I will end up screwed with no car after all this time.
I am feeling you've been swindled.

Hi Stephen, any update on 5XYP5DHC8LG092091? I’m guessing it will be pending transport for a while but thought I would check since you’ve been much more responsive than my dealership :)

Ah!!!! Once in transit do you know how long it normally takes to receive it on the lot? The ETA is still 2 weeks out but it only has to get to Pennsylvania? Could it be this weekend?

Stephen can you tell me where mine is in the process. Mine was created in that gray area of when the tool was broken it never showed up on the tool. Kia loaded the stock photos on my dealer's website but they have been there for a while now. 5XYP5DHC2LG091440
