VIN Lookup Site
I saw some questions regarding the site in other posts and I just wanted to clear up what I know about the VIN lookup website as I know it. I am hosting the website currently but did not write the website. @foresterh is the brains behind the operation here.
A few weeks ago, Kia blocked @foresterh 's original home to the website for scraping too often. Between he and I, we moved the website and got it back up and running. There was a gap of about 2 weeks where it wasn't running. Fear not, once the website was up and running, the missing VINs got filled from the last time @foresterh was able to do so. So YES, it is caught up.
Now does it have the current list of ALL Telluride's created? NO
Since there are quite a few missing VIN numbers there is a lot to catch up on. I don't want to have the scraper fill in the missing VINs too quickly if at all. First it would put the site back in the microscope of too frequent heavy scraping. We don't want/need that at all. Plus the vast majority of those VINs have already been delivered so there is little to no value in understanding the status of a delivered vehicle at this point. It MAY be filled in but at this point, unlikely.
So TLDR so far; if you do not see your VIN, it's not entered yet. Sit tight and check once a day at a maximum.
The tool currently scrapes the Kia VINs once a day. This is for many reasons but mostly that we don't want to tick off our friends at Kia! I'm hoping that even if this is too much they can reach out this time and ask that it be metered more instead of throwing a ban on the website. So again, checking the site multiple times a day may only help your mental health or curiosity. It is NOT pulling data more than once a day.
If you have any questions regarding the website, feel free to leave them. Either myself or @foresterh can hopefully answer it.
