Order to delivery time

How is it people have gotten vin# with a eta date when others have got no info and appear to have placed the order before them?

It isn't when on the calendar you put your order in...it is based on the allocation rate at the dealer you are working with. KIA's ordering system is based on allocations to each dealer each month. Because the Telluride is in such high demand - it is exposing the flawed nature of their ordering system. Some dealerships still have months long waiting lists for the SXP - and I suspect that will continue for the foreseeable future.

My dealer below has plenty in stock on the Explorers if you want to call them and get one😁.

If Ford had nailed the interior of the Explorer (like KIA and Hyundai did) then the Explorer would be flying off the lots. Sadly - the interior is such a massive let down that only rental car companies, fleet buyers and ford loyalists would consider the Explorer interior worth $50K. It is a total embarrassment for the domestic auto industry that Ford attempts to pass off that interior in today's competitive market place. Honestly - I think it is because Ford wanted to make room for the Aviator that they went so cheap on the Ford Explorer interior. Where Hyundai/KIA allowed each brand to execute the interior to the best of their ability and didn't worry about Genesis since Genesis doesn't have a shared platform model. The Explorer has one of the worst interiors I have seen on a new car in a long long time.

Thanks for the info, I ordered the first week of January and have heard nothing on my order it’s frustrating to say the least, not because I want it and I want it now, but because from the time of the order I have done everything possible to keep my wife old car on the road, had I known I quite possibly would have looked else where. I need this vehicle.

Based on the (lack of) supply many people will go to another vehicle. Especially if they urgently need a new vehicle.

Completely agree! The interior is god awful! While I like the idea of having an SUV with 400HP, I cannot bring myself to pay over $55k for an Explorer ST. Pre-covid, I had a dealer willing to do $49,500 for an ST with an MSRP of $59,690 (this included a $3k factory rebate), however, I'm turned down the deal. Still seemed way too much for me. The $3k rebate is gone now, and supply is actually somewhat limited, due to factory shutdowns from covid. Best price now is around $52k. Still way too much for an Explorer. I will continue to wait for my Telluride :-).

to find out the status, strain the dealer and his employees. they can write a request to Kia Canada via email. Kia Canada responds within 24 hours. so you can at least find out the status of the order.

I talked to high volume dealer in Western Canada and they have said that if it isn’t built by now then it will be a 2021 and likely won’t arrive until end of August or September. The also had an internal brochure for the 2021 Telly. My dealer still says I’m getting a 2020 but it hasn’t even been built yet. I don’t really know who to believe anymore. I asked my dealer for a status update from Kia and the update (from the dealer) was that there is no update to report.

Saturday night and I'm searching this post for updates. Been a passion for the past few months. End of April, I was told June 22nd delivery date on an SX-P/T. I know that won't happen now. But, was hoping for updates on the SX productions. I read that they are being produced. Now, I'm just curios as to my new ETA. I hope the brains behind failcat.com have a few '21 VINS posted by Tuesday evening. I would like nothing better than showing the dealer the Monroney sticker. And asking about the new ETA. What a world we live in now....Where we buy cars and don't have to go to the lot to see that sticker first! Here's to hoping. Anyway, thanks to all the people posting on this site! And, if anyone else is reading this on a Saturday night. Happy weekend to you too.

Our sales manager confirmed we are getting a 2021 with an ETA of August. We ordered in Jan with an ETA of April, moved to May, moved to June, moved to July now August. I hope the August ETA is the final. Just waiting for the sales manager to get back to us with the details to include the price increase. Black Copper SXP dune with tow hitch. Glad about the key fob and the other improvements.

I spoke with my salesman this afternoon and the order I placed this past February is being changed to a 2021 with no ETA as yet. Originally I was given and ETA of May 6th and then June 27th so fingers crossed it might be end of July? Who knows. I also asked if I can make any additional changes to my order such as changing the exterior color or adding the blackout package and I was told no as the car is being manufactured now - whatever that means.
