  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Looking at Tellurides in Greenville, SC area. Had been locked in on a Subaru Ascent to replace my ‘02 Toyota FourRunner, but have now opened my mind to the Kia. My wife drove both today, and surprised me when she said she still likes the Subaru better. Any advice on dealers here would be appreciate.

Thank you!

I'm replacing (bought new) my 03 4Runner (229,000 miles). I have never owned a car this long. Love my Toyota. I have researched new cars for 18 months. I love the fact that Consumer Reports has the Telluride with a 92 rating which is the highest I have ever seen. You can't go wrong with a Subaru, but I think the Telluride is far superior in most categories. My neighbor has a new Ascent and is not crazy about the transmission. It's a lot of money to spend so make sure you make the right decision. BTW, I should have my 2021 Telluride SX-P in August. :)

Thank you! I just rolled over 270k in mine, such a solid car. Thank you for sharing what has gone into your decision.

Not sure how solid Subarus are, but at~50K I starting having electrical problems with my 2015 outback. Others are having similar issues..

Welcome! My wife initially liked the way the Subaru drove also - but that was only after a short test drive. Over time, however, that 4-cyl CVT is not impressive. Nevertheless, they are popular and comfortable, I just prefer the V6 and transmission in the Telluride. That being said, you'll be able to find a deal on an in stock Ascent... not so much on the Telluride.

Wow, you got a lot of mileage out of your 4Runner. I had 1999 4Runner that died @ 150K, then got another in 2008 but was totaled @145K in 2019. Between the two 4Runners I got ~300K out of them.

Yes, the 2008 was totaled, but it was having electrical problems (the sunroof and rear hatch did not open/closer correctly) and both rear differential seals were leaking. I fix one side, then 6 months later the other side started to leak. I didn't want to put more money into it so I was already looking to replacing the 4Runner. I bought my KT in mid April 2019 and I'm still loving it.....
