• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Moved my telluride (s model w/ 34k) and noticed a small spot of oil, turned it off, checked the oil and started it back up — check engine light it on. Went digging around my house and found a iOBD2 and ran diagnostics and saw that I was getting P030600 and p030100 ( apparently cylinders 1 and 6 are misfiring )

seems like this Is happening to a bunch of people when I search google is the 2020 telluride plagued with engine issues ?

So did you schedule the appointment with your dealer as your screen advised you to? No issues here.

Sure did, closed till Monday. Everything has been running fine up until last night (except the ac smells like vinegar when it starts up)

this is a well-known case for the gdi engine. do you have an endoscope? I really wanted to see how the cylinders would look.

I don’t have an endoscope. But I this is the report for both cylinders.

yes, I saw. Often, gdi's problems are complemented by scuff marks and scratches on the cylinder walls.

on the photo the engine is 24k km, index g4.

I wish I understood more about cars. I don’t know what I’m looking at.

If I bought a Telluride and had engine troubles like that, It is a 2 1/2 hour drive to the nearest KIA dealer for me, That's why I'm leery.

This is the heart of the car - the engine. In the photo there is a cylinder and a piston.
As you can see and understand, scratches / scuffs on one side are not normal. The cylinder wall should be polished like a mirror.
The Koreans already had a recal-company in America and Canada in 2016, about 150k cars with 2 and 2.4 engines.

Why did it happen?
Engineering miscalculation. Aluminum block, short piston stroke, the piston had a short skirt, thin oil lines.
And as a result - Overheating, not lubricated enough, the piston was not cooled properly.
Hyundai / Kia engines began to work loudly and consume oil already from 20K km, as scuffs / scratches appeared in the cylinders. It also caused engine damage.
Kia / Hyundai seems to have solved all the problems, modernized the engines and everything seems to be fine, but already in 2018 a lawsuit was filed in America against Kia / Hyundai. In the US, car owners Hyundai and Kia blame Korean manufacturers for factory defects, which can lead to severe engine damage and, in some cases, spontaneous combustion. Miscalculation again?
And the most interesting thing is that the lawsuit among the list of motors was registered: Lambda II 3.3-l and
Lambda II 3.3-l T-GDI (remember the models).

Could this happen with telluride?
Yes, there is a chance, since the engine is new.
That is why I asked you about the edoscope.
As an engine (aircraft) engineer, I would be very interested to look inside.

Why can this happen in Telluride?
We receive a car with a new heart - the 3.8 L Lambda II V6 GDi. This motor was specially designed for telluride and paliside based on the Lambda II 3.3-l T-GDI motor, which was featured in the lawsuit in 2018.

PS: In my 2017 sedona, I drove from 0 to 35K km.
Having changed it to the 2019 sedona, today I have already covered 30K km. Both are powered by a Lambda II 3.3-l T-GDI engine.
I noticed changes in performance on both cars:
After 10k-15k, when the engine is cold, it works very loudly, like a tractor. It is worth warming up, the sound decreases significantly.
Doesn't eat oil at all. I change every 6k, from replacement to replacement is normal, without topping up.

If this becomes an issue with a significant number of Tellurides and Palisade, all Korean manufactured vehicles will become America’s new Yugo. Sales of new and used vehicles will plummet.

I have a Telluride on order with an anticipated delivery in early October and I now question if taking a chance on a KIA is a smart move. With today’s advanced Design and manufacturing techniques having major drivetrain issues is unforgivable.
