  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey folks, looks like I'll be getting a Telluride from out of state. I've never done that before, can anyone give me a rundown of what exactly is involved. I'm in Virginia, dealer is in Colorado. VA's DMV site is semi helpful but I want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

Typically, you will pay the sales taxes of your home state when you register the vehicle there. Sales taxes will not be collected by the selling dealer, and therefore will not be included in your financing.

Depends, I think the dealership can collect the state sales taxes where you will be registering, and send it to them.

They can, but it depends on the state AND the dealership. Outside of a couple states with reciprocal agreements, It is not mandated, and in my experience (which covers 17 states and a great many dealerships), the dealers do not want the responsibility of taking your taxes and being responsible for accurately submitting them in time to another state. Please trust me, you don't want that either.

Then they'll pay the tax when they register the car
