In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’m feeling like a fool...we just went in tonight to order our telluride and they gave us the msrp price which was fair, but was hoping to get a little more off. I asked if we needed to do anything with the price/trade-in at this point and the sales guy said no that all happens with financing. Well, I asked for a print out of our order with the msrp they quoted us (thinking when we go back to Pick it up we could negotiate a little more). But now that I’m thinking (And reading more on here) about it, there’s no way they’ll negotiate with me now that I’ve said yes to ordering and they “gave me” the price in that printout, right? I mean they probably would just say too bad if I’m not willing to pay and send me on my way. So frustrated, and only have myself to blame. This was our first time going in and talking ordering/price, we Originally test drove with them but didn’t talk order that time. Any advice or did I botch my deal? If I did be honest, I’ll need to hear it.

And The guy was literally Chris Traeger from Parks and Rec., so overly positive and nice that I’m pretty sure he could convince you to sell your soul to Kia if he asked. Any advice or did I botch my deal? If I did be honest, I’ll need to hear it.
There is a lot to unpack here. What else is on the printout besides the MSRP? If you got it at MSRP with no markup you did good, but there could also be document fees and addons from the dealer. Luckily you didn’t discuss the value of your trade, so you will be able to negotiate that when you return.

MSRP is a deal right now. That printout is not a signed bill of sale so don't sweat it, at least they're committing to msrp. Who knows, you may see leverage go towards the consumer by the time some of today's orders are actually delivered months down the road due to the factory coming around on the supply deficit here lately. GL.

Don't be surprised if there are mandatory dealer add-ons when you go pick up.

You're thinking you didn't negotiate enough to get a better deal but it might be the opposite later.

Agree as mentioned above. If they haven’t added on additional dealer fees which are not the norm, MSRP is a good deal on a Telluride at the minute. People are struggling to find dealers who are selling at MSRP so dealers selling below MSRP are few and far between if any at all.

You did great! Seriously. I was offered $5000 over sticker got mad and left then was offered $5900 over sticker at the next dealer.

Wow, that is crazy!! I definitely feel much better knowing that “deals” aren’t really made on these cars. I hope you ended up getting an offer you were comfortable with!

Here's the approach I would take. First, I wouldn't have left a deposit with a vague agreement to sell at "MSRP" and no sales contract with my OTD price. If you got that, great, you're on the right track. Markups are common, so MSRP should be your target. What will may happen, however, is that when the vehicle arrives in a few months, the sales manager says the actual price is higher than MSRP because they either have a markup or have mandatory add ons.

As soon as you have a VIN (2-4 weeks before delivery usually), I would go back and have them get the sales contract ready (before delivery) and negotiate further then. Make sure a sales manager signs off on the sales agreement if he hasn't already and you should not have any surprises at delivery. Also, if you post dealership name, or search for it, other members may be able to share their experience with that dealership.

Love this idea! I feel a lot more comfortable with this option, rather than our vehicle getting there and them dangling it over our heads to pay upwards if we want it. Thank you!

You are good! Unfortunately due to the way these cars are selling, dealers have the upper hand. The only deal is really getting it at MSRP. You are lucky to have found a dealer still selling at MSRP at this time. Relax and enjoy the ride of waiting.
