• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Prestige Headliner

Has anyone found a brush or something to run across it to make it all lay the same way?

Don't even notice the headliner...

Yes....but I remember paying $90 + for an MB SUV and it WAS nice BUT, the headliner was crap plastic!! With the Telly, you are getting WAY more quality than what you might pay way more for on another brand name.....simply amazing!

Best vehicle I’ve ever owned so far.

Reminds me a lot of my 2004 Acura TL. Just the right amount of luxury at a great price/value and seems to be reliable. 135K with no issues on my Acura - hoping the Telly can do the same.

My wife HATES the look and feel of the Alcantara no matter how premium it is but we don't want to give up the rest of the Prestige Package amenities like HUD, Nappa leather and heated/ventilated 2nd row seats. I'm guessing there's probably no chance of special ordering an SX-P with a regular headliner?

No. Kia doesn't do special orders. It's honestly not a big deal. You won't even notice it - especially in grey. Pick one or the other. If it's your wife's vehicle and she hates the headliner, then save $2300 and give up the other stuff. Else...

Probably.

Does your wife HATE the look and feel of the Alcantara enough to swap headliner with another forum member or order the $900 SX headliner and have it installed?

I personally don't pay much attention to the headliner, but have to say that I didn't really like the way the darker color one looked in person when we test drove one. It just made the cabin feel smaller and you could see every place that had been touched on it. I don't know if the lighter gray color would be much different in terms of seeing where it was touched or not but it does look much less dark and enclosed. Will definitely have to ask the dealer about the cost of having the plain SX headliner ordered and installed on our own. In the end though, I think it's just something that the wife will get used to over time.🤞

I can’t even imagine how much it would cost for the parts and overall labor to make that happen, all to remove a premium feature from the vehicle and likely diminish its value.

If you don’t want the dark headliner, steer clear of the dune brown interior and go for gray or black. They both have the light-colored headliner.

No, you can still see all the spots that have been touched on the grey headliner.

If your wife wants to make a big deal about the headliner, count the number of times you get into the car together. Then count the number of times she looks up at the headliner or touches it. Calculate the percentage of times she pays any attention to it at all. If that number is anything lower than 50%, it is not worth giving any further thought about.

If for some odd reason she likes to go in the car and always touch the headliner, probably just have a custom body shop install her favorite sheet over it.

This is why I'm so glad that I found this forum!!! Ask a question and you get answers! Honest, helpful and useful answers that make my day when I read them. Thanks to everyone for your responses.

Honestly....I have been lucky enough to afford 22 brand new cars since 1968 and NONE of them had a headliner of this level of "luxury!" Some of those previous cars were Mercedes and Cadillac.....none of 'em had anything like this. YES....not good if you have young kids, pets, etc....but if you don't have those issues, it is "pure premium" and the "suede" composition not only adds a velvet look , but adds to the noise reduction in the vehicle. I do agree that if you DON'T want it then they should offer another option , but that's not the way it works today.....this vehicle also has a warning system to let you know that you left your child in the back seat......I will NEVER need that but it's there anyway and adds to the potential resale value. On we go.....

Test drove an SXP today with a black headliner. Family pointed out that the headliner might be difficult to maintain/keep clean. Seems like you would have to keep brushing it to keep the pile straight. Any owners out there have issues with the pile fingerprints or dirt on the headliner?
We just bought our KIA Telluride and they told us to use a Pool Table Brush to smooth the Headliner when needed.

Mine is a 2020 prestiege and I love the headliner feel and look.......truly "luxurious" and unlike any I have ever had before. You need to like the look of "saude" or "cashmere" which will always have a "marked, soft" look to it......if not, you won't enjoy it. Finally, that material also helps with sound deadening within the vehicle.
