If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The more I observe things here the more I believe that these long wait times are attributed to dealer “lines” and/or dealer negligence and not the fault of Kia (other than for making a hit car).

COVID aside (because I know this universally delayed everyone), it seems that Kia has done a decent job of managing allocations and being reasonably fair to all dealers given production constraints. It also seems like the KFOS to delivery time isn’t unusually long. The bigger waits seem to be from getting into KFOS in the first place.

And from that perspective I have a hard time having too much sympathy for someone who chooses to get at the back of a very long dealer line knowing it won’t get into KFOS anytime soon. I think it makes a false narrative about long wait times being Kia’s fault when actually things aren’t that bad.

I went to a dealership that (at the time of my getting in line) had a four month wait. I was able to find what I wanted at other dealerships in Texas immediately - but they wanted at the time between a $3K and $6K mark up which I refused to pay. Back in January @StephenCantrelle was one of the few dealerships letting you order at MSRP. To your point - there were options out there if I wanted it immediately - I just didn't want to pay a mark up. I think that is what has caused some of the long lines. But if all the dealerships with inventory sold at MSRP - those high mark up cars I was looking at would have been gone and we would have been right back to the supply side not being high enough to meet demand. Remember - the Telluride was launched with just a 40K/year target. They are now running at over a 100K/year rate. So KIA has had to make some big changes to meet demand. Even still - dealerships don't have sufficient inventory for the market adjustments to come off this car. I suspect it won't be until 2021 that we see them routinely selling at or below MSRP. A good problem for KIA to have.

The silver lining for us was the fact that we now rolled to a 2021 and get the few enhancements associated with the next model year.

I would not be surprised if some of us who are in line now are rolled into 2022s.

I seriously doubt it. Now that KIA is producing at slightly greater than their targeted 100K units/year - I think they will finally catch up. Of course - this is before the Georgia plant starts building the Sorento...that is going to be another choke point for their limited manufacturing capability. The Sorento, K5 and Telluride will all be competing for the same manufacturing square footage. Time will tell.

this sub is about to turn into the new Order to Delivery thread - I mean...we do need a new one that is what 250 pages now!?

Failcat’s latest VIN has been stuck on #XXX9314 since much earlier in the day. Something going on?

(yes I get some sort of satisfaction from seeing new VINs generated. It’s like the heartbeat coming out of the Kia factory.)

I believe that Failcat only scrapes the vins once a day in the morning.

From @DruKe in this thread
"As I mentioned in the first post on this thread, just once a day for new VINs and it tries to fill in gaps late at night. You need only check once a day. "

Ahh ok. I did not pick up on that. Thought they were popping up throughout the day. Thanks.

@DruKe Just a thought: any chance we can get a checkbox to disable this prompt from popping up in the future? Many of us are visiting the site frequently and it becomes redundant quick.

Could it be done? Yes. Will it? No. It's important to remember why it's there. So the nagging reminder will at least annoying you into remembering it. Appologies for the annoyance.

The only thing that bothers me about the pop up is that it says "purpopses" because I read it in my head every time and I sound ridiculous 😂

@DruKe I am doing some analysis of production stats that aren't captured on the telly stats site...and I noticed that there are 610 VINs with the option code NE from prior to 6/4/2020 which is when I believe Nightfall Production began. So - when did Nightfall production begin and why is NE assigned to units going back to January?

Thanks.
