• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has there been any official information released by KIA to explain why the many SOLD orders on this forum have not been filled while they continue to ship unsold T’s to dealers?

I don’t understand it. Do they make less money per unit on SX-P/T than they do on an S or EX? I would expect their margins would increase as the MSRP goes up. I find it hard to believe that it’s a continued parts problem because they should have been able to acquire new suppliers by now if that was the case. We have deposits on vehicles and they don’t produce them but they make something else and it is sold ahead of our orders, that’s not right.

Most other manufacturers will inform potential buyers if a limited number of a particular model will be produced and when they receive that amount of confirmed orders they don’t take any more.

I looked at KIA’s Corporate philosophy and the very first thing is supposed to be Accountability. I guess that’s just words on paper and really not what KIA is all about. What do you think?

Car manufacturers are not in the business of releasing “official information” on how they do business. They are in the business to make money. There’s your answer.

Manufacturing cars is a little more complicated than you think. Take unknown demand, trim preference, a pandemic, and long complicated supply chain, and you get the current situation. It’s frustrating, I get it. But adjusting to the market on the fly is almost impossible. Most car manufacturers make adjustments annually with the model years. The covid situation has made that very difficult, for all manufacturers. Almost all have delays and supply chain issues to deal with. The entire car market is a mess. Used cars are selling for near new prices because new cars aren’t readily available. Many retailers aren’t buying used cars anymore because the prices are so high that banks won’t finance the loan because the car isn’t worth the price paid.

They also have written targets of what they want the market to look like in 1, 3, 5 and probably 10 years out and seeing a variety of cars on the road is one of the biggest marketing tools. We as early adopters gravitate towards higher end models but if the Telluride is going to penetrate like say the Santa Fe has over the last 20 years ago, Kia has to think about building a foundation that also appeals to the early majorty, late majority, and laggards.
