Order to delivery time

Interesting, I wonder if the dealership's ETA is just a made up date. I guess as long as you have the month the exact date doesn't matter? Can any dealers confirm this? Or do you guys actually get a specific date once entered into KFOS? If so, how do you explain why some people are getting different ETA, even earlier ETA, when entered in later for the same trims? Or maybe the color plays a role as well?

@Navy66 what color and specific trim did you order?
No vin until about the time the vehicle has been produced. I'm sure they have a build schedule and an estimated ETA but component availability and shipping probably factor into ETAs changing.

No - ETA is in KFOS. When your car is accepted in KFOS - KIA generates an ETA. As it passes through the various phases of the process - the ETA changes.

One of the phases is Kia deciding: Let's build like 10,000 Nightfall Editions for Mr. or Ms. "I didn't even know about the Telluride and didn't plan on buying a vehicle today but now I own one" to trip over.

It’s an Estimated Time of Arrival
Yea but wondering if KFOS gives them a specific ETA or if the dealer just estimates on their own

No - the ETA actually shows up in the computer system. The dealer isn't making one up. My dealer gave me a screenshot of my ETA from his ordering system.

They get (delivery) detailed information that has populated ETAs for the vehicle's build process.

I believe I possess the current record. Today I received my first ETA . What makes it special is the the ETA date is 4 days shy of being exactly 1 year after the order date.

Can anyone beat a 1 year wait?

No kidding. You can see below that they have built 3,612 Nightfall Editions for people that hadn't been waiting for months and months for their car. I know KIA has to find a way to get inventory on the lots - especially with a model year change over - but when I think about it - those Nightfall vehicles jumping in line in front of me...it really pisses me off.

But...this is why they did it...$160M in sales from those new Nightfall Editions.

I was looking at this chart earlier. I really wasn't a fan of how they just pumped out all of these NEs. I think they created a supply hoping that the demand would pick up for these with drivers on the road seeing all of these NEs driving around. I wonder when and if they're going to do another large build week/month for these again.

I'm a lucky SOB. It's too good to be true - a 5 week order.
Good lord, I'm getting an early July dealer allocation EX-P and my ETA went from 8/26 to 9/12 to 10/1. I'm afraid to ask for another update.

All their new advertisements for the Telluride feature the new Nightfall trim - so they probably thought they needed some inventory on the lots to be ready for that. As for when they do another big build of those...not until they build the 6-12 month old orders still waiting would be best...

Join the crowd! FYI - you should add your ETA dates to your signature so we can easily compare dates. Saw someone else had done that so I added it to mine. I am like you...slipped into October. Given how strong production numbers are these days - I think KIA has made the decision to limit how much production goes to sold orders. I think they are prioritizing dealer inventory which is why our dates keep slipping. At these build rates and our cars already in KFOS - we should be getting are cars in early Sept...not October.

@NDBlackEX , I expect my ETA to slip to the right, obviously. There's no way i could be THAT lucky to get the vehicle on it's first ETA, right?

We almost pulled the trigger on a dealer allocation of a similar build. At the time, the allocation list had about 14 EX-Ps within several surrounding states with this paint and ALL were projected for October. So that's what I'm realistically projecting.

If you have a vin it shouldn't take much more than a month to show up depending on where you are. I've seen some people take delivery in under 2 weeks after getting a vin in some southern states.

@NDBlackEX - about 90 minutes away from the mother ship. Should be a fairly accurate ETA

What about a partial vin, or a chassis build number? I got my first update today for a November 19 ETA. Order placed July 21. However it was a "chassis number" and a partial VIN.
