• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello, I am writing to see if anyone has any rust showing on their Telluride? I was cleaning mine the other day and I noticed the inside of the tailgate is showing rust. So unhappy as I take very good car of my Telluride. Mine has 8,k miles on it and I got it in September. Really concerned that the build quality is just not there.

looks like the paint was scratched off of that area. did it come that way from the dealer, or did you happen to close the lift gate on something that would have scraped the paint?

I have not closed the tailgate on anything. I take quite meticulous care of my cars.

if the rust isn’t too deep, it can probably be sanded off and repainted. maybe have the dealer cover the repairs.

There are a couple of threads on this. It's likely just iron dust - and you need an iron remover.

I don't think those brown spots are rust, Get a clay bar that should remove them.

My Telluride is one year old and the chrome plates inside the tailgate on the back floor are rusting something terrible and it is always quite damp where the tailgate latches. In addition, my tailpipes are already beginning to rust.
