• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Canadian 2021 Telluride

How old are you guys? Take your beef to private messages. Don’t waste people’s time with your BS posts.

isn’t there mods on here that delete useless comments?

You are 100% correct. But the guy just irks me with his stupid comments.

That's why I am stopping, I should know better, but thanks for reminding me.

He is just as annoying in PM's and then brings them public. Others have PM'ed me with same sentiments about this guy, he has been called worse in private.

Sorry again. Last time talking about that guy.

Moving on to better things.

Apologies.

@GreekWiz besides.....there’s better things to talk about. Like today is pick up day!!!!

35 days from order to delivery is pretty impressive. When I was called yesterday, my dealer apologized for the wait and when I told him I ordered Aug 1st, he said he was calling people who ordered in March.....

Mine was delayed a couple of days, it should have been to dealer Wednesday, but got here today... oh well, looks like I will be picking up Wednesday now.

Hi folks - I've just joined the forum and have found it a great source of information already - thanks all!

I'm in Calgary and am planning to buy a 2021 Telluride SX Limited Nightsky Edition in Gravity Grey within a few days, and started visiting the Calgary dealers - Northland so far, others to follow. I'm planning to competitively quote and buy the vehicle as-is and endeavoring to avoid where possible the various "compulsory" additional fees and packages such as the "Prairie Package" at $2500.

I am pretty handy and from research it seems that I can via third parties easily add on the trailer hitch eg CURT 13420 and 4 pin jack (I don't need brake controller capability); the floor and cargo mats (SmartLine, TuxMat, or Weatherguard); and Thule or Yakima roof bars and storage pod. I will also get a set of steel rims somewhere, and winter tires via Costco. Block heater should be simple to add for $300-400 installed on a stand alone basis, the only part of the "Prairie Package" of value to me. Keeping all this separate and out of the purchase should keep things simpler and make it easier to compare prices apples to apples. I have been told to expect 3-4 months for delivery, and a $5k deposit at time of order. It will be a cash deal. No interest in extended warranty pkgs.

On the kia.ca web site the MSRP plus color, levies, delivery etc is $57,962. So in AB there is AMVIC, taxes, and "dealer admin" to be added in. And then they will no doubt endeavor to add in $2500 Prairie Package, accessories, etc.

In the past I have had good success using Unhaggle to handle the bidding process anonymously, and for only $99. In 2013 via Unhaggle I saved $4,000 on the in-demand Acura RDX over the best price that I could get from dealers who stuck to MSRP plus the usual mandatory fees and taxes. When I showed up at one of those same dealers with the Unhaggle paperwork where that dealer had bid a significantly lower price than they would give me face to face, they were surprised but sheepishly had to honor their bid price.

I'm not expecting to do so well this time, but for $99 I will give the Unhaggle process a try once again, and will report back. I may need to wait a few days as the online Unhaggle system does not yet include a menu item for the SX Limited Nightsky model.

The kia.ca web site seems to have a problem with its download brochure feature for the 2021 Telluride. Can anyone confirm for me what interior will come with the vehicle specced above - I have seen US photos with white interior inside at least one 2021 SXL Nightsky Gravity Gray, which is not my preference.

As well, it would be interesting to know what people are seeing as far as "mandatory" admin fees in the Calgary area.

People need to make a reasonable profit, and I respect that, and I also don't waste people's time. But I want quality at a fair value price, and don't appreciate being gouged or gamed.

Any comments or advice for me based upon what I have outlined above?

Thanks!

@Western , northland received 2 cars 2 days ago. but they ask for +2k and they don't bargain on administrative fees and charge for the winter package. In my experience, our dealers were very greedy in April (maybe something has changed now). try go kia in edmonton i got fantastic dill from them.

Hi @Kwim, thanks for your comments. Northland is physically close to me, but from my visits the dealership is not very impressive, not a member of BBB, and gets pretty bad reviews on dealerrater.ca. Southline Kia comes across a lot better, and I am going to check them out this afternoon.

We have family in Edmonton area and checking out and buying via a Kia dealer there would be fine. I am in no rush, would like to make a deal in the next couple of weeks if possible, and can easily wait the 4-6 months until vehicle delivery if necessary. Do you have a specific Edmonton dealership and/or rep that you could recommend?

I have also heard good things about a Kia dealership in Medicine Hat.

Many thanks!

@Western , the northland after the private owner sold the lagauto turned into a trash heap. I live 5 minutes and I feel comfortable too, but now I go south. Out of 3 warranty repairs to me, 3 times they did one - they broke the other, and service manager Rob is something unimaginable. Previously, they were rated 4.6 and now 3.7.

@Western I can recommend Kia West Edmonton and Ryan Kelly.
I also talked to all the Edmonton dealerships prior to going with West Edm. Best deal to be had.

I spoke with all the dealers in calgary, edmonton, regina. go kia in edmonton gave the best conditions, but that was in April.

Thanks @Kwim, good to know. We deal with Northwest Acura for our 2013 RDX and they have a nice facility and good service, and Country Hills Toyota for a 2003 4Runner; so Northland Kia came as a negative shock when I visited. Do you go to Southline Kia for maintenance/warranty now?

@StonyRob thanks for the input. I now recall seeing some comments elsewhere relating to Kia WEdm and Ryan Kelly, so that sounds like a good route for me to explore.

I keep waiting for the next gen 4Runner to come out, to replace my reliable 2003 Ltd, but it now looks like 2023 (maybe). So I'm going to buy the Telluride in the meantime to enjoy the comfort and all the bells and whistles, and keep the 2003 4Runner as backup for the really offroad stuff. I maintain it myself as a hobby, and it is in excellent shape, not even body rust.

I absolutely love the car. Got it with 10 km on it. I just finished a wash, clay bar, wax on it. The colour is so good!
