• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Have you checked your fluid levels?

Hi, I'm a new owner (newer) of Telluride EX AWD. I opened up the hood for the first time (I know...) as I was upgrading my headlight bulb to LED, I noticed the fluid levels were not topped off. Coolant was midway between full and low, engine oil was barely registering. Is this normal? I just emailed my sales guy to see if they would top off all the fluids for me.

It was kind of stupid of me to not check under the hood for fluids. He opened up the hood for me before the purchase decision, but my mind wasn't focused on the fluids. For all new buyers out there, open up the hood and check the fluids before you drive off your vehicle from the dealership. At the least, it would save you from making an additional trip.

depends on the fluid and if the car was warmed up of cold!

I have appointment with Kia service to remedy the fluid levels in 2 weeks.

Which means what? You are going to drive the EX with low fluids for two weeks?

I'd be worried if the dipstick didn't register any fluid at all. But I expected all fluid levels to be topped off given I'm supposed to drive the vehicle for 7500 miles before next oil change.

If your vehicle is/was really low, then that needs to be brought up to dealership management. Some one is definetly dropping the ball as all new vehicles coming off the carrier should go thru a full PDI (Pre delivery inspection..) and that should include ALL fluid levers including differentials, transfer cases, and, engine fluids. There is absolutely NO excuse to receive a brand new vehicle low on any thing unless it has not been thru a check list upon arrival... Ask for a copy of it at time of delivery for proof...

Good knowledge right here

Thanks for the advise. I'll be sure to ask for check list during my next appointment.

Then your tires are probably still at 50 PSI also, check them.

I pickup my EX last Saturday . Fluids were fine but tires were at 45 psi.

I should have thought to check tire pressure also. Mine was between 38-40 psi. What is the recommended psi? 35?

35 is the recommended pressure on the door. 51 is the maximum recommended on the tire. I put mine at 35 I'm in Arizona and they heat up pretty good

I will adjust mine down to 35 tomorrow morning. Thanks for the advise guys.

check your door jam to see the proper tire pressure for your model. Just because his is 35 doesn't mean yours is.

Funny you said that. I checked the door jams earlier and only found VIN numbers.
EDIT: Silly me. I was looking at the wrong place. for the EX model with 18 inch wheels I guess it's 35psi.

I just saw a Youtube video of step-by-step oil change instructions for Telluride after driving 1200 miles. He shows the old oil filter, although the video does not show clearly, with metal shavings embedded in the filter here and there which is why he thinks early break in oil change is advisable. I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I probably will hit 1000 miles by my next appointment. Have anyone done oil change at Kia? How much do they charge for full synthetic oil change?

This is a waste of time and money. Unless recommended by Kia this is unnecessary.

While not difficult by any means, It does look like more of a PITA to do than on other vehicles. Especially with the filter being down there too and taking off a cover. Its too bad the filter isn't topside like many other cartridge filter cars, so that you could just use an oil sucker and never have to go down below...…

While I agree it may be unnecessary, since I do my own changes on all my vehicles, Its cheap money spent..... then I'm not afraid to let it go full duration. If I had to pay dealer prices for a change, I'd prob just cut the interval in half the 1st time.....

Picked up my LX AWD yesterday and got home before I got to the tire psi screen. All 4 were at 50!!!
