• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have had my alarm go off 5 times, 4 today while I was playing golf. Each time my keys are in my golf bag on my walking push cart and I am 200 to 500 yards away from the car. There was no one near the car because the golf course owner verified that it was my car and no one was nearby. I always park in my garage so I don't know if this happening at other times, in the larger stores I would never hear the alarm. Reading through the manual offers no suggestions as to remedies or means of restting the system. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Rear seat child sensor has been known to cause this. I’ve read other posts here about it.

Correct. And in some instances there was a seat belt still connected in one of the rear seats that would cause this.

Turn off your rear occupent sensor. It's in your manual

Ressurecting this old thread becuase today we started having this issue. Alarm has gone off unprovoked several times today. If persists will try to disable rear seat occupent sensor.

Answer to your own question. 100% the reason.

Windows are open, something in the back seats are triggering the motion sensor.

Disabled rear seat alarm last night and has not occurred again. Windows were closed by the way and nothing was in the rear seats. Maybe faulty sensors.

Do you use the center seatbelt in the 3rd row? If it isn’t stowed back into the headliner could be causing movement. Or maybe other items in the 3rd row or cargo area.

I had the third row seat backs down - could that have been causing the issue?

Keeping the third row seat backs folded down should not be the reason for ROA activating. Unless the sensors are malfunctioning.

I’ve had this “False Alarm” issue occasionally over the past 6 months or so. I’ve disabled the Rear Occupant Alert. but it continued. In the past month, it’s been getting more frequent. I have a 1 year Service appointment next week, and of course will bring it up then. I expect it will be solved with some kind of software update. I have a hunch about what could be culprit - my Telluride is always parked in the driveway, with a security camera pointing right at it 24/7. i usually get the false car alarm in the early morning. between 2am and 5am. I check the footage: no prowlers, no wind, no animals. I’ve also been very careful not to leave anything at all on the car seats. Another failed theory was I thought perhaps I was shutting the car off with my foot on the brake, which leaves the car in accessory mode. Nope. Yesterday, the alarm went off mid-day and it struck me that perhaps my reflective windshield shade was triggering the alarm somehow? I put it on before getting out of the car in the evening. So that the early- mid morning sun doesn’t destroy my dashboard. The alarm has been more frequent during the summer, and I’ve also been more vigilant about the sunshade during this time, coincidentally. My accordion style screen is shiny silver on both sides. Anyone else with the false alarm issue also use this type of sunshade, by any chance?
