Whenever I start up my Telluride the rear AC turns on. I always turn it off via the touch screen controls and have "locked" the controls but it keeps turning back on. Anyone know how to keep it off until I manually turn it on?

Along these lines...is the rear climate “Truly” independent? Meaning when you change the back does it change the front or vice versa? Can it be say 74 in the front and 68 in the back and stay and maintain that way?
Many vehicles say they have rear climate control, but then you find out that when you adjust the fan or the temp in the front, it affects the back and vice versa....Would be good to know....

We have exactly the same problem (actually came into this forum to see if anyone else was having this issue). We have a LX, so it doesn't have automatic climate control - the rear air controls (even if the front is off) always go back to the same settings (top air, fan on 2, one blue bar in temp) after it sits for at least a half hour - if you turn off car and restart it within a few minutes, it will remember what it was set at or that we turned it off. So far the dealer (and their Kia rep) have not been able to figure this out. Seems like some kind of system memory issue.

Having the same issue with my S model. I keep turning it off from the touch screen.

So, I don't have an answer per se but I do have a story. I emailed Kia customer service last week when I was trying to find out which app(s) to download.
*I was able to get my answer here on the forum.
However, last Saturday I received a call from Kia to help with UVO setup. I was driving with the kiddos so I told them it wasn't a good time and that I'd call back. I received an email immediately as a follow-up.
Today I received a voicemail, again from customer service, checking up on my situation. I was able to call back and fairly quickly I was speaking with a rep and asked about the rear AC. This is where the story goes downhill a bit. The rep asked if anything in the rear had been turned on. I went back as I have only been in the 2nd row during my initial inspection. On the ceiling control panel I pressed the "Off" button. I asked the rep if that was all I needed to do and he did not know. He explained this is a new car and he doesn't have good information yet. Not overly joyed to hear that. He said if it continues to have the dealer run a diagnostics check on the system. I'll check in the morning to see if this fixed the issue.
Again, thrilled with the amazing customer service and follow ups but wish they had an actual answer.

Did the dealer diagnose the issue? I'm wondering because I have the same issue with my S AWD Telluride, and it's super annoying to have to turn off the rear climate control every single time I get in the car. I called Kia USA support, and they had no clue about the issue. They directed me to bring it to my local dealer, which I did when I picked up my plates, but they had no clue either and merely stated they would "let HQ know."

I noticed I had no control whatsoever for the rear climate control via the front console (posted on the forums earlier with a video) so I took it back to the dealer last Wednesday. They were baffled for the same reasons — new car so they are kind of in the dark. They've had my new car longer than I've owned it at this point trying to fix the issue. They ended up having to order a whole new console (front display unit) to fix the issue. Hopeful to have it back tomorrow. Clearly there are some issues all around when it comes to the rear climate control.

I just called my dealer this morning and Kia still has no fix for the issue. If anyone else is having the same or similar issue please report this to your dealer. If this is a widespread problem and Kia is notified then they might actually work on a solution.

Have a parallel issue with the EX, where the rear zone does not come on when I push 'Sync'. Rather I have to push 'rear' on the console, then go to the screen and adjust which I normally just put on Auto and Lock screen. Then once the car is turned off and back on, I have to do that all over again every time. Dealer said he has heard of the problem and asked me to bring it in, so I have a Friday appointment.
After about 3 weeks I received an "answer." my service tech was told that this is by design and its to save the battery. I am utterly baffled as this makes zero sense to me.

Is this a 'problem' on all cars? Does anyone not have this problem of climate not staying synced? My back passenger is a baby and will not be controlling their own climate so I'd rather it stay synced to mine.
There are 2 problems. Some have their rear climate control always turning ON and other (as me) have them always turned OFF when starting the car.

From what I have seen on this forum (and another), the rear a/c always turning on regardless on how you turn it off (and always returning to the same settings) seems to be a common issue with LX and S models. The other issue seems to be more of a sync issue with the automatic climate controls on the EX and SX.

So does your rear default 'off' each start? And you have to turn it on and re sync it?

Yes exactly. I have a dealer appt this Friday so will see what they say but won’t take it if they tell me corporate has not figured out a solution yet. Buts annoying so I hope they have a workaround
